In my journey as a Reiki practitioner and master over the past 11 years, I have encountered numerous individuals grappling with the painful cycle of self-harm. Whether it manifests as hitting, biting, or cutting oneself, self-harm often stems from deep-seated emotions of frustration, anger, sadness, and a sense of helplessness.
For many, it becomes a coping mechanism — a way to express emotions they feel unable to articulate verbally. However, the repercussions of self-harm are severe, both physically and emotionally. Recognizing the urgent need for holistic healing, I turned to Reiki — a gentle, non-invasive energy healing technique — to offer relief to those suffering from self-harm tendencies.
One such individual was Srividya, a software engineer burdened by family pressure and feelings of guilt and helplessness as she was 31 and not married yet. She resorted to biting and hitting herself as a means of coping with her emotions.
Then there was Vikram, laid off from his job and haunted by the scars of a toxic, abusive childhood. His suppressed anger and fear manifested in self-inflicted cigarette burns.
Lastly, there was Nihar, a 21-year-old battling constant anxiety due to his parents’ tumultuous relationship. He found solace in hitting himself.
As a Reiki Healers and Masters, we recognize that the emotions behind self-harm are deeply rooted in shame, guilt, and self-hatred. These emotions are heavy and painful, often leading individuals to harm themselves as a way to cope with overwhelming feelings. It’s important to understand that these emotions do not define you — they are energies that have built up within you, and they can be transformed and released.
Reiki can be a powerful tool in addressing these deep-seated emotions. Through Reiki, we work to clear the energetic blockages in the body that hold onto shame and guilt. By gently channeling Reiki helps to soothe and heal these emotional wounds, creating space for self-compassion and self-love to flourish.
Guided by the principles of Reiki, I embarked on a journey of healing with these individuals. Through gentle touch and the channeling of universal life force energy, Reiki facilitated the release of pent-up emotions, allowing for deep healing and transformation.
What techniques we used:
- Reiki + Karuna Reiki and also Angelic Healing
- We also used Mother Quan Yin’s Lavender Flame of Compassion and Forgiveness
- Plus we also used Crystals like Rhodonite+Moonstone +Rhodochrosite and Rose Quartz
- In addition – we also advised our clients to chant ho’oponopono prayer ( you can find more information on my previous article)
What treatment did we give:
- First few treatments were in person where we counselled the clients
- Followed by Reiki Healing
- We later resorted to distance healing too
- In addition – they did journalling and affirmations
- We also advised them to play Ho’oponopono audio on loop
How did we channel the energy
Each client had a different pattern but all of them had common self harm symptoms – however the outline of treatment was the same.
We primarily worked on 5 chakras:
- Root
- Sacral
- Solar Plexus
- Heart
- Throat chakra
- We used CKR SHK HSZSN symbols and additionally Zonar and Harth of Karuna Reiki
- We also used the blue light of archangel Michael to cut cords with all negative experiences across time, space, dimensions, and lifetimes to break patterns with toxic emotions
- We asked Archangel Zadkiel to use his Diamond Violet flame and transmute all energy debris causing these emotions
- After that, we used Archangel Raphael and Mary’s green and turquoise light to heal the heart from hurt abuse and toxic experiences
- We also asked Archangel Chamuel along with Archangel Metatron to harmonise the heart and to help activate the petals of the higher heart
- We invoked the Lavender Flame of Mother Quan Yin as she is the epitome of mercy and kindness
- Next, we moved to the Throat chakra and again used the energy for them to channelise and express their emotions instead of using self-harm
Method
- Sit in a place where you won’t be disturbed
- Ground yourself and cast a protective shield of energy around you
- Invoke your divine team
- Invoke Reiki energy
- Now draw all symbols on Root chakra – out the intention. Invoke angels and ask them to do the respective tasks. You can also keep crystals on the respective chakra. For some, I kept crystals on the client’s chakras – especially for Srividya. Others held crystals in their hands
- Visualise the chakra completely healed. Let Reiki do her work
- Move to the next chakras – one at a time – it took me approximately 10-12 mins per each chakra – total 60-75 mins session treatment
- Finish with sweeping the client’s aura and grounding them
- Cut cords with the client and finish your session
- Offer them water – green tea etc after the session to stablise and ground them
- You can even ask them to journal their experiences
- Most times an emotional outburst comes up – hold space for them
Observations
Each client took a different time to heal but all 3 are successfully out of self-harm. With each session, Srividya, Vikram, and Nihar experienced a profound shift within themselves — a newfound sense of peace, clarity, and self-awareness.
Slowly but surely, the urge to self-harm diminished, replaced by a sense of empowerment and inner strength. As they learnt to connect with their emotions and process them in healthier ways, the cycle of self-harm was broken. Today, Srividya, Vikram, and Nihar stand as shining examples of the transformative power of Reiki in healing the wounds of the soul.
Their stories serve as a beacon of hope for all those struggling with self-harm, reminding us that healing is possible, and that we are never alone on our journey towards wholeness. Through the gentle touch of Reiki, we can find solace, healing, and the courage to embrace life with renewed vitality and purpose.
In our sessions, we focus on releasing the energies of self-hatred, helping you reconnect with your true self — the self that is worthy of love, kindness, and care. Reiki will support you in letting go of the need to punish yourself, replacing those patterns with nurturing and healing energy.
Remember, the journey to healing is a process, and it begins with the intention to treat yourself with the love and respect you deserve. Reiki is here to guide you, to hold space for your emotions, and to help you transform them into something beautiful and empowering. You’re not alone on this path, and healing is always possible.
