Feeling restless while doing Reiki?

I attended a self-Reiki session online recently. The lady leading wanted us to go through all the motions, and everything was done in silence. I just could not get into the Reiki zone. Here I was, a Reiki Master, not feelin’ it, struggling to bring the Reiki in.

I also happened to be working on altar cloth, so I decided to crochet instead of following along with the hand motions. I picked up my crochet work, took a deep breath, inviting the Reiki in as I did so, and began the half double crochet. BOOM,. The Reiki came through, saturating my whole body, going where it needed to go.

There have been a few times, during the pandemic where I will be doing distance Reiki and suddenly, it’s like, I can’t sense any of it, and I couldn’t maintain my focus. I walked around, listened to music, and nope, just could not get there. I sat at the kitchen table, feeling a little disconcerted. Then I noticed some mini pieces of art paper and paint pens on the table. Immediately, I began to paint a mini little piece, running Reiki for the woman I was working on. And BOOM. The Reiki flowed freely again. Later, I gave her the mini art piece and she loved it.

Speaking of music, I often listen to music when I run Reiki, and if I’m not, I’m singing it. Singing the symbols helps me embody the energy more. I love the grounding effect it has. While I do my best to always be grounded, there is something about the rumbling tones in my chest and head that anchors me well to the here and now. Song works really well for me for the most part.

What is nice about me deciding all on my own to sing the symbols is that I was able to give that as an option to my students. One student of mine also does well with song. Another student of mine is blind and found singing, even only in her mind, to be so helpful, like she wasn’t missing out on the symbols because now she could feel the symbols.

If you feel restless while doing Reiki or have trouble doing Reiki, you can still do Reiki. Keep your hands and body busy. Draw, sketch, dance, sing. There have been times I have had to walk while giving someone distant Reiki. Sometimes I hold and observe crystals, or pet my cat. I have done it while watching TV. Reiki does not judge you. Reiki will work with you and will make up for any focus ailments and physical ailments you may have. Reiki is for everyone.
