When Coincidences Occur….

In the past two weeks, three people shared with me improbable coincidences that had just occurred in their lives. (None of these people were Reiki clients or known to me through my Reiki practice.) Whenever I receive a message three times in a short period of time, I know I need to take notice!

I believe the familiar adage, “Coincidences are God’s way of staying anonymous.” Coincidences are a way the Universe sends each of us messages, providing guidance to us, or sending us an affirmation that we have made the right decision. Sometimes, these coincidences are so amazing that I simply have to laugh at the Universe’s creativity and sense of humor.

Since Reiki became a part of my life, now seventeen years ago, the frequency of receiving messages through almost unbelievable coincidences has increased. There are probably many reasons for this. Reiki opens us up to the interconnectedness between the Spirit World and our earthly home. We become more attuned to this Divine Source, and we grow in acceptance to the help and guidance that is always available to us.

We become less dismissive to the coincidences in our lives. We learn to listen. We look for the reasons, or the purpose, of why something has happened. As our acceptance grows, then Spirit has additional ways to communicate with us. The act of listening to spiritual guidance can grow into a very important aspect of our spiritual lives. Paying attention to inspirational thoughts; becoming clairaudient, clairsentient, or any of the other “clair’s”; being led to a certain book or website; all of these methods become ways Spirit provides us direction in our lives.

For some people, amazing coincidences become life-changing moments. They are so surreal, defying all odd’s, we know a bigger force has to be involved. Let me share one of mine. My husband and I were on vacation, a few years after we learned Reiki. He was becoming increasingly dissatisfied with his career of over 30 years and was considering a change to a more fulfilling, but lower-paying, career. While I supported his need to do this, I also was worried about the financial aspect. During this trip, we decided to tour a plantation house; we and two other couples who walked in with us were added to a tour that had already started. The tour guide told the six of us she would repeat the information she had already covered at the end of the tour. So, when the tour ended, she repeated the first section for the six of us. Then, the tour guide looked at us and asked where we were from, and we told her. She said she and her husband had lived in our city for over ten years; then she asked what part of the city we lived in (they lived there too); then, what neighborhood (them, too); what street (them, too); house number – yes, they had lived in our house! She asked about how the neighborhood had grown and about our neighbors. What are the chances??!!

This event was too amazing. We decided to tour that house, rather the many others in that town; we had to join the tour late; she had to ask us (not the other two couples) where we live; the list goes on. After discussing this with my husband, and spending time in meditation, I knew one of the messages for me was to trust, trust, trust that we would be fine financially when my husband changed careers. The serenity and peace I experienced was overwhelming.

Since that time, I have experienced many other coincidences – some of equal amazement and others less spectacular. But, each one had a message for me. Every time, I give gratitude for the love and support of the Universe – and the gift of Reiki which awakened me to this reality.
