If you have a Reiki practice, it is vitally important to clear the room before you give Reiki to the next client. There can be energies, released from previous clients, remaining in the room; or, energies can seep in from other offices in the building, or through the windows. The process of clearing the room is also beneficial to you, the practitioner. Using the same techniques assists in your preparation to be a facilitator of healing energies.
Clearing methods for your Reiki room
Because there are no limits within energy work, there are many methods for clearing space. The first step is to set the intention that all negative energies are gone, and positive energies fill the space. Here are just a few possibilities of techniques you can use:
- Draw all the Reiki symbols to which you have been attuned in front of you.
- If you have a window, open it for a few minutes. If you do not have a window, visualize one on the outside wall. Send the energies outside, and to the light.
- Sound a bell, gong or singing bowl.
- Meditate and visualize light coming into the room, clearing all negative energies.
- Choose a crystal for this purpose; meditate with the crystal on the palms of your open hands.
- Use smudging techniques.
- Have plants in your room; fortify the plants’ natural ability to cleanse rooms by sending Reiki to them from time to time.
- There are many more….use your own guidance!!
One of the most important things you can do is to be mindful of all the items you place in your room. Each item should evoke positive feelings within you, and hopefully with your clients. Choose items that evoke calmness and harmony. Stay awake from bold, bright colors and use the “cool” colors, such as sea blue or sage green. And, the fewer the better – a cluttered room can feel overwhelming and busy; it may be difficult for clients to relax with so much stuff surrounding them.
Sometimes, we may give Reiki where we have no input into our surroundings. I have given Reiki in client’s homes, if they could not get into my practice room, due to illness or other circumstances. One bedroom stands out in my mind, as it was cluttered and messy, with clothing strewn on the floors, dirty plates and dozens of books everywhere. I did not use any physical techniques, as it may have been puzzling to the client who already was anxious. Simply setting the intention for energetic clearing, and asking the Universe to calm the environment, brought a sense of peacefulness to the room, and soon to the client.
As each of us realizes with frequent Reiki practice is that energy is everywhere, and in everything. As we become more sensitive to our surroundings, we become more mindful of our choices. Clearing our practice rooms is a vital step in providing healing Reiki energies to clients.
As always, one of the most important lessons in using Reiki is being creative! Ask for guidance in how to deal with a particular situation, and it will be given to you. Ask for guidance in establishing a routine, or ritual, in clearing your work space. It will work every time….
