One of my most cherished possessions as a little girl was a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary – a gift from my godmother on my First Communion Day. When I prayed to Mary, I sensed unconditional love and support surrounding me. It seemed I had a second mother, one who deeply understood the difficulties of being a child with a physical handicap. She helped me to deal with the everyday realities, while realizing I was a cherished child with a beautiful soul.
When Reiki came into my life fifteen years ago, my relationship with Mother Mary (she guided me to call her by that title, rather than the Blessed Virgin) grew tremendously. I feel her presence when I use Reiki for myself, and when working with Reiki clients. She always has strong energies, as she brings tremendous healing vibrations into the sessions. It is as if an extra “oomph” of energies are emanating from my hands. This warm spiritual being embodies the “perfect mother love” which all human beings need.
The more we work with Reiki, the more we realize how important it is to balance the traditional male energies, with the traditional female energies. Our modern-day culture emphasizes the need for the male characteristics of assertiveness, intensity and strength. However, to live a balanced life, one also needs to embrace the energies of nurturing, compassion and caregiving for other people. It can be a challenge to fully express these complementary energies in our work lives and our personal relationships. Reiki treatments assist us in developing and maintaining this delicate balance.
Mother Mary, or the feminine goddess to whom you relate, is always available to each person. Like all spiritual beings, the only necessary step in receiving this assistance is simply asking for it. As we become more open to the possibilities of interacting with the Spirit World, the more we realize the benefits of working with these wonderful beings. They are waiting, and more than willing, to give us assistance in navigating the difficulties of earthly life. They help us to remember we are also spiritual beings living within physical bodies.
Mother Mary brings the hope-filled message of manifesting world peace, not unlike the archangels. She reminds us world peace begins with individual peace – this is possible through healing ourselves in all aspects of our beings – mind, body and spirit.
Reiki is one of the easiest, and most effective, ways to connect to Mother Mary and other beings. Through this connection, each of us can achieve personal healing and inner peace. As Reiki energies enter our physical bodies, our hearts and minds open up to these possibilities. Our lives are blessed in ways we never imagined possible.
Yes, I still have my cherished statue of Mother Mary. Every time I see it, I am reminded of my own healing journey. It is truly the greatest blessing of my life. My traditional religious beliefs have greatly expanded, with Reiki practice. At the same time, the core essence of my spiritual beliefs has remained the same. As a little girl, I talked to Mary frequently, to help me through the difficult days. Now, my conversations with Mother Mary continue. These seem even more potent, through the act of laying hands upon myself and others. Let us always give gratitude for the many, many blessings of Reiki energies!
