The world is often a very results oriented place. We want to know what can be done for us and how quickly. We love quick fixes and we often don’t know how to cope with our stress, pain or discomfort. We have specific wishes and desires that we get honed in on and a certain outcome that we think is perfect for ourselves. When things aren’t going that way, we think something is wrong. It is human nature.
While this is indeed human nature, it is also very limiting. It creates struggle and suffering as we spin around in our own minds trying to create something that may not be appropriate for us, might not be suitable for the others involved, or for the greater good of the world as a whole. There is simply no way for us to understand all of the energies at play in any given moment. We can only see our own perspective and the wishes we hold in that moment. Even when we try our best to understand the perspective of another, it is still utterly impossible to understand all of the energy patterns that have created that person’s reality up to that moment.
The way that Reiki works is for both the practitioner and the client to set aside their own desires for any particular outcome or wishes. Instead, we recognize that we are only individual energy patterns in a much larger whole. The practitioner invites the healing aspect of that larger whole to work through us in order to restore balance, harmony, and the greatest good of all concerned. This opens up far more possibilities than might be available if we were to only focus on the specific requests of a client or our own desires. It is also more effective at creating a true healing.
A true healing will get to the underlying issue, rather than only working to bring about the result you think you want. This is far more helpful in the long run, as the problem will resolve itself in the most appropriate way, often in ways that could not have been expected. By opening yourself to all options that are available, for the greatest good, many pathways are possible. When you only work with a specific wish or desired outcome, that’s the only pathway you’re allowing to be open. And it may not truly be available.
Reiki will not do the following:
- Make someone like you or love you (though it may help you find peace with your current life situation and heal your heart)
- Help you get an ex back in your life
- Help you get revenge or otherwise create negative energies against someone (this is the opposite of what Reiki does)
- Make you wealthy, make you win the lottery, etc. (though it can help heal underlying wounds with regard to money, such as feelings of greed or lack)
- Make anyone do anything or create any kind of “magic” (though it can bring about acceptance and trust in your own ability to make changes in your life)
- Promise a cure of an illness (though it can bring balance to the underlying issue, ease pain and bring calm)
If a Reiki practitioner has promised you any of these things, or any specific outcome, please understand that you may not actually receive these results. Consider that you may be doing more harm to yourself by seeking the quick solution, the fastest relief to your problem. You may find that there is much more healing to be found by getting to the root of the problem, the underlying energies, and healing those. This may not offer you an end result you can foresee, and it won’t be a quick fix in most cases, but it does offer long term healing and true healing. Quick fixes never do and they often only prolong or worsen our suffering.
It is definitely possible to move toward our own goals and desires using energy by making a choice and following through with actions. And often that will work. You don’t even need anyone else to help you do that. But if our ultimate goal is true healing, then it works even better to open ourselves to the larger energy and allow all of the channels of healing energy to be available to us. So many more options present themselves and underlying problems heal, sometimes so gently we aren’t even aware of the process aside from the gradual changes. This truly helps relieve suffering and pain, both now and in the long run.

Yes, that was exactly what I was saying in the article. No one can say what Reiki will do precisely, so it would be misleading to say that a precise result will occur.
Whenever I have given Reiki for a particular intention or requested help with a certain situation, I have never got the results that I wanted or expected. But the results that I have got have brought more joy and happiness to me. I have surrendered myself to Reiki and have never questioned the logic behind any occurrence because in hindsight, the outcomes have actually been better than what I envisaged. The key to Reiki is complete and unconditional surrender. Once we understand that, we become more in tune with the energy. Just let go .. surrender yourself completely and you wont be disappointed…
Amit, yes, I am always surprised by the wonderful results, which are always so much more than anything I could have envisioned. I have learned to ask and then let go completely. I am never disappointed.
Reiki has been an inseparable part of my life for the past 12 years… not a day has gone when I haven’t been pleasantly surprised by one thing or the other. Even in my darkest moments it has given me a reason to smile and believe that all that happens, is for the highest good.

Yes the reikie does not do the above, further reikie shd be done with pure intention, just cause someone else does it n other has to compete it shd not be done dat way. But as dey say a person who does reikie is so infecticious dat ppl follow der footsteps. How dey incorporate it is up to dem. I joined this page in 2012 for its sacredness, I hope it is maintained by good articles and this space is not polluted.
But god has made be such dat ppl follow me and follow wat I do n I feel very blessed, dey take d good example :).

Reiki is unversal God Energy,it can do miracle if you have faith and practice regularly,there are many people in this world who want everything instant without any understanding and practice.
I am not satisfied with the answer of author about Reiki,If she really a Reiki Practioner or whatever she teaches, she should not prejudged Reiki and its benefits.Because Reiki is not anyone’s Property or belongings

I think it is possible that you misunderstood my words in this article. Reiki is indeed Universal Life Force energy and can do miracles. Letting go of the need for instant gratification and specific ego-driven desires and outcomes or timeframes was my focus. Reiki is timeless and without limits. However, our minds are limited. When we restrict what we choose to experience from Reiki to a finite and specific thing, we are choosing to limit our experience of Reiki. Reiki will offer us much more if we open ourselves to seeing and experiencing it. Infinite energy can not be judged or limited by finite mental processes. It will work for the greatest and highest good, treating our underlying issues. While the results may be precisely what our mind wanted, sometimes they are not, or they don’t come about on the timeline we demand. When we let go of specific expectation about how things will go and trust Reiki to deliver the greatest and highest good, we allow the fullness to flow through us easily. We can experience ourselves as part of the Reiki and learn from it, from ourselves and from life. The possibilities are endless. Because they are endless, we can’t know in advance precisely what they are and we must rest into the Reiki and allow it to do its work without demands.

Regarding the discussed items, I’d like to ask you if paying (in money) a certain sum monthly (regularly) for healing karma issues emerged from family history or created by ourselves is going to work more successfully than just using Reiki methods. Please beware of anyone who tells you they can eliminate or heal your karmic issues simply because of an amount you pay them every month. The exchange of money does not heal karma, unless it is in relation to a debt you owe and are repaying in some way to the person. That can help clear that issue, but simply giving someone money will not make karma heal. I advise that you do self-Reiki, meditate, self-reflect and receive Reiki from others. Continue to live well and do your own work, and don’t worry about karma very much. We all have it and we heal by simply working with healing and being as happy, kind and honest as we can be.

Why reiki doesn’t make someone like you or love you ? What is wrong with that, if our intention is pure?
Hi, it isn’t a moral issue or about pure or impure intentions. If we try to use energy healing to force someone to feel something they don’t or do something they don’t want to, we are not actually healing. We are attempting to violate someone else’s personal choice. That tends to bring us negative energy, rather than healing, and it is always restrictive in the energy it sends out. It is far more healing, and a more expansive use of intention, to envision how you want to feel, what you want your life to be like, and allow the Universe and Reiki to bring those ultimate intentions to you, without narrowing how that will happen. For example, if what you ultimately want is to be loved and have a partner, envision that and feel what it would be like to be loved and supported in the best imaginable way. Send Reiki to that vision and ask that you have peace in your heart as it manifests. Let go of all specifics of how it will manifest or with who. The path is still a mystery. Healing energy and intention is much more effective and better used when we open ourselves to all of the possibilities the Universe has for us, rather than restricting ourselves to only being happy with one particular outcome and only one path to that outcome.

Sure, you can do this by sending distant Reiki to the situation you are envisioning. The methods for doing this vary according to your own preferences. You could write down the vision you are holding and send Reiki to the paper. Or you could place the vision into a quartz or rose quartz crystal and send Reiki to the crystal. Most any method you would use for distant Reiki works just fine. You are sending Reiki to the vision, instead of a person, that is the difference.

It seems you have misunderstood my article. Reiki–Universal Life Force–is indeed beautiful energy without parameters. However, the system of Reiki and our human application of it are indeed limited. Reiki brings balance to the system, but it does not diagnose or treat any illness. It is meant to be a support for other therapies and is not meant to be used alone in the case of illness. While there are instances in which miracle cures have happened in a variety of circumstances, it is wisest to not expect a cure from Reiki alone. Therefore, Reiki practitioners should be honest about this and never promise that Reiki will bring about a cure. To do so could delay someone seeking appropriate therapies that can work in tandem with Reiki to support the healing and wellness of the client. Our role isn’t to prove that Reiki is a miracle therapy. It is to help people. To do that we need to offer realistic expectations and allow Reiki to simply do it’s work to bring balance and the highest good. That is not always a cure. In some cases it is peace.

i am a reiki master but not a professional reiki healer. i am a regular reader of reiki rays and you are one of my favourite author. i would like to disagree with some of your points with all respect. reiki is not meant to be a support for other therapies . it can alone do everything more than what other therapies do. I knows a person who was paralyzed and hospital discharged him saying will be on bed for the remaining lifetime. The relatives of him asked for healing from my master. He became perfectly fine after two healing sessions. reiki will heal anything if that is for our highest good.
That is wonderful news that your friend recovered! It is true that very sudden recoveries happen with Reiki (and other types of therapy) that are not expected and that modern medicine has not been able to achieve alone. I have seen it too. It is not my intention to imply that these things do not happen. I do believe that it is best not to “promise” or ensure a cure no matter what form of treatment you are using, including Reiki.
you are right. it is better not to promise about the results. the results will be for the persons highest good and will be better than modern medical science which consider human body as a machine

Well said Sree Kanthji I have been practicing reiki since 2009 my mom had heart attack and paralyzed 2008 oct I don t know what is reiki at that time even to add on my father is doctor also with all medic en and with treatment nothing was normal doctors give us very few months that she can serve I was very young I was working in IcIcI bank Banglore not married my brother was well settled in usa but money and doctors medic en we have done every thing doctors have give us only few months be coz she had diabatic also multi organs had function problem I was at Banglore my parents at 1500 km distance they use to stay I have lost hope and on my life my mom was my guru and god for me. One fine day I met lady called Rasu Naik She told me about reiki but she use to charge me daily 500 per day she use to play only music on cd and she use to say that you will get mental peace I believed her and paid her money and I have started was hearing this music for 45 days I use to practice meditation one fine day I stated seeing images that I met person who is reiki master and I am learning then I searched on internet her name and address fortunate that she was also in Banglore . I have searched her address and met her Neeta Patel I have learned from her reiki practiced for 45 days 2 st degree went back home to see my mother I use to give her healing and give white lite energy and symbols two times daily she recovered and condition was became little normal and she stared walking also recovered .well it only due to reiki she recovered thanks to Reiki all the angles if it is not in the would she would not lived doctors got surprise mom Reiki can do the miracle sir I have seen it after that my mom had other health problems but she lived for with cancer also she lived for more the 9 years she left us 2014 I believe reiki can give us support and hope and positivity . It is my story I am strongly believe reiki can do miracles

I’m sitting here in allergy hell wondering why vast amounts of self reiki have not shifted the underlying causes over 2 years. Time to release expectation/hope of a specific outcome!
