When we are introduced to Reiki, a new world view begins to form. We realize that everything in our world is alive with energy. Over time, this knowledge grows and develops and before we know it, our world view has been transformed. We begin to see how everything, and everyone, is connected, through the force of energy.
Beginning with our homes, we see how each item brings its own energy into our personal space, and how each item is affected by our personal energies. Jeanne decided to sit in each room of her home, and send Reiki to each space. She soon realized some rooms felt calm and happy, while others had energy blocks and felt heavy. She spent more time identifying the sources of negative energy.
Jeanne cherishes the dining room table that has always been a part of her life. Jeanne remembers many wonderful Sunday dinners at this table, where extended family members shared the events of the week. There was much laughter, but sometimes there were serious or sad discussions. The support each relative gave to the others taught Jeanne the importance of family ties. Now, when Jeanne sees the table she feels grateful for the wisdom and guidance of her mother and the older relatives. She sets the intention of passing on this wisdom and loving camaraderie to her own children.
In the same way, objects can hold negative energies. Jeanne has a collage of photographs along her stairway wall, including her own senior class photo. Jeanne dislikes this picture, as she looks unhappy and stern. It captured her state of mind during that difficult school year; she was unsure about college plans and was not popular with boys. Since it was a family tradition to display such photographs, she had not considered taking it off the wall.
With frequent Reiki practice, Jeanne decided to extend the power of healing energies into the space of her home. With growing sensitivity to energy, she was able to detect those areas that felt “good” and those that did not. She made some changes, such as having decorative items that gave her happy and peaceful feelings.
She talked to her husband and discovered some things that had negative associations for him. They enjoyed walking around their home together, discussing their emotional reactions to each item. They also looked at wall colors, floors, windows and doors. Jeanne’s husband stated he always disliked the color yellow, but they had not repainted the yellow sunroom when they bought this house. Jeanne realized the draperies were too heavy, not allowing enough natural light; she felt “shut off” from the world when she could not see the street.
After making a number of inexpensive changes, Jeanne again sent Reiki to her home space. This time, she felt lightness and harmony. Both Jeanne and her husband were more relaxed and happy to be home. Jeanne’s understanding of energy grew immensely during this time, and both of them feel much gratitude for the gift of Reiki.
Why not do the same exercise in your own home, with your family members? What you find may surprise you. With some easy changes, and the power of Reiki, you can transform the energies in your own home. You can create your own peaceful, relaxed place.
