We often ground prior to Reiki, but this meditation will allow you to use Reiki to ground.
For this, you will have to lay down on your back. It can be on a bed, couch, yoga mat, or just the floor. Make sure you are comfortable with bolsters, yoga blocks, blankets, or pillows. Arms touching the ground with your palms down.
Having some grounding crystals nearby may help. When I do this, I lay hematite on one side and garnet on the other side at the foot of my yoga mat. I lay a garnet at the top of my mat where I lay my head. Take a little time or as much time as you want to focus on each area of the back of the body. You may choose to only focus on one area, a few areas, or all the areas of the back of the body.
- Close your eyes. Take a moment to focus on your breath for a few inhale/exhale cycles. With each exhale, sink into the floor.
- Now start to pay attention to the back of your body as it comes into contact with surface you are on. The surface may be hard or soft. The surface you are on may be hard in some places and soft in others. Do a scan of the whole backside of your body, feeling how it comes into contact with the surface you are laying on.
- Focus on the back of your head. Scan your head and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of the back of your head are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the areas of the back of your head that is in contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your neck. Scan your neck and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your neck are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your neck in contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your shoulders. Scan your shoulders and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your shoulders are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your shoulders that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your upper arms. Scan your upper arms and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your upper arms are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your upper arms that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your elbows. Scan your elbows and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your elbows are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your elbows that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your lower arms. Scan your lower arms and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your lower arms are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your lower arms that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your hands. Scan your hands and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your hands are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your hands that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your upper back. Scan your upper back and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your upper back are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your upper back that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your middle back. Scan your middle back and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your middle back are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your middle back that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your lower back. Scan your lower back and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your lower back are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your lower back that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your gluteals or seat. Scan your gluteals or seat and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your gluteals or seat are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your gluteals or seat that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your thighs. Scan your thighs and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your thighs are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your thighs that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your knees. Scan your knees and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your knees are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your knees that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your calves. Scan your calves and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your calves are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your calves that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your ankles. Scan your ankles and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your ankles are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your ankles that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Focus on your heels. Scan your heels and notice all the sensation you may be experiencing. What parts of your heels are coming into contact with the surface you are laying on? How does that surface feel?
- Visualize Reiki coming from the parts of your heels that come into contact with the surface you are laying on and going into the ground.
- Take a scan of the whole backside of your body. All the parts of your backside in contact with the surface you are laying on are emitting Reiki that is going into the Earth.
If you want, start with the heels and go back up to the back of the head.
Note: This is not a technique I invented. Focusing on your backside and what it is in contact is a grounding exercise I recently learned. I just added the Reiki.
You could also do this sitting. You can notice where on the back of your body you make contact with the surface. If your feet are flat on the ground, you can focus on the contact areas of your feet with the floor or ground.
