Reiki and Fire

Fire is a powerful element. It helps transmute negative energy into positive energy. It can assist with elevating the vibration of homes. It can help us clear ourselves of negative energy. It can help us with our Reiki practice too.

Fires, candles and lamps are part of many sacred rituals practised across the globe. In the Reiki community, many teachers light candles and lamps while offering Reiki attunements. The simple act of lighting a small candle can usher in high vibrational energy into any space.

We can use the healing properties of fire to add more power to our Reiki practice and to create more peace and positivity in our lives.

Here are a few tips to practise this:

Energising Homes

The simplest way to get started is by lighting small candles or lamps in your home. If you have an altar or a separate space where you practise Reiki/pray/meditate, you may light candles in that area. This will help the energies of the fire inter mingle with energy of the altar/healing space and their combined energy will radiate to your entire home.

Reiki Treatments and Attunements

Lighting a candle when you offer yourself Reiki can also help. Apart from energising your healing space, a candle can also create a calming ambience and help you relax. The same holds true when we offer Reiki treatments to others.

Candles and lamps lit during Reiki attunements can charge the area with positive energy, thereby creating the best possible vibration for students.

Energy Clearing

Energy sensitive people can clear themselves of negative energy by sitting before a white/yellow candle and looking into its flame. Level two and three practitioners can draw the Reiki symbols over the flame and request that the fire absorbs and transmutes every ounce of negative energy lingering in their energy field. This practice can be done for two to five minutes on a daily/weekly basis, depending on how sensitive one is to external energies.

Water is also a powerful element which helps with clearing negative energies from the system. Lighting a candle in your bath area can also be of immense benefit. The warm glow of the candle combined with the gentle touch of water can help you release energetic toxins from the system.

Moon Rituals

The times of the New and Full Moon are powerful in terms of energy shifts. The New Moon energy assists with manifestation and inviting fresh energy, while the Full Moon energy assists with letting go of that which no longer serves us. On the evenings of the New and Full Moon, it is a good idea to spend a few minutes outdoor (walking or meditating) with a candle or lamp placed safely in our vicinity. It is important to be open to healing and thereafter allow the energy to handle the rest, trusting in the process and flowing with it.

A candle is a small instrument with immense healing power. It is the most practical and convenient option for most healers to connect with the element of fire. The more you work with it, the more you will begin to enjoy it. As you work, you will also be guided by your Higher Self to use its energy in creative ways and to make it an integral part of your Reiki practice.
