A simple but effective way to discharge all of that excess energy when all you want to do is sleep. The aim is to start at the top of your head and work all the way down to your feet discharging that excess energy to ground in the process.
1. Sit on the edge of the bed with your feet flat on the floor shoulder width apart.
2. Begin by running your fingers through your hair a few times letting you hands naturally come down the nape of your neck and onto your shoulders. Working one side at a time so that your right hand works the left side and vice versa. Gently dry brush with the flat of your hand along your shoulder down the arm and out past the end of your finger tips. This will stop your hands feeling heavy and uncomfortable.
3. The next step is to use your hand to dry brush diagonally from the shoulder to the opposite hip, repeating the process one side and then the other.
4. We then move down from the hips to the feet. Depending on flexibility and mobility this can be done in one flowing motion or completed in stages, hips to knees and finally knees to feet. Each leg can be done separately or for ease of movement the feet and legs can be brought together and completed at the same time. It’s important that when you get to your feet you continue on past the toes so that your hands make contact with the floor.
The number of times you dry brush any area is down to personal preference.
This simple technique works but to achieve a level of success any process needs practice. It helps to keep it relaxed and free flowing with your intention supporting the physical movements.
