One of my Reiki students recently asked me ‘Does practicing Reiki attract Karmic retributions?’ I asked her, ‘How did you get this thought?’
She said, ‘someone told me, you get bad karma when you do Reiki to others’. I was not shocked to hear that because it is not easy to understand the intricacies of karma.
As Reiki practitioners we know from our own experience that Reiki removes all our pains, fears, blocks and problems. Why then some people wonder if practicing Reiki attracts Karmic retribution? Let’s explore this important topic today.
What is karmic retribution after all?
It is retribution due to our own negative thoughts, feelings and emotions. We live in a cage made of our own thoughts from this life and maybe even from previous lifetimes.
We get trapped into this cage due to our karma: our thoughts, words and actions. Bad karma or negative thoughts, words and actions can block the energy flow in the body. When our energy becomes stagnant due to our own negative thoughts, feelings or emotions, we suffer poor health. This is retribution.
Negative thinking is bad karma. Bad karma brings stress in life. We are aware that most of the illnesses are stress related. Energy blocks in the body take place due to our negative thinking or bad karma.
How do we come out of karmic retribution?
It happens when we knowingly or unknowingly step into spirituality. It can happen through a book or a friend who invites you to experience Reiki or a video or article that inspires you to learn Reiki or meditation.
Reiki helps in healing and clearing these energy blocks. It can be considered as a therapy in a similar manner as acupressure or acupuncture. These methods also focus on clearing the energy blockages the way Reiki does.
Reiki teaches you to be kind to others. Reiki teaches you to be grateful. Learning Reiki can help you release bad karma and avert possible karmic retributions.
Reiki makes you positive. You become more forgiving. Your consciousness rises and your karmic patterns start to break. You heal yourself and others. Healing others gives you good feelings and good karma.
However, while practicing Reiki you must also follow the rules and procedures laid down by your teachers. For example, we have a rule that Reiki should not be given without permission.
This leads to nature working its course around, again! The same things will need to be dealt with again by the person; which is going to create a karmic retribution for you.
The person you intend to give Reiki must be willing to receive Reiki. These points need to be considered and remembered.
We are Reiki channels. Reiki flows through us and heals people. Sometimes, it can make us feel that we are all powerful. When you start thinking you are doing it and when you start making decisions for others by sending Reiki without their permission. That is when you cross the line of karma and start creating possible karmic retribution for yourself.
When you do Reiki with permission, you are a clear medium through which the energy flows from the Universe and passes on to the person who requires it. Reiki knows what is best for the person and your intentions are for the person’s highest good. When this is so, all is well.
Karmic retributions happen only when you do Reiki to a person who does not have an intention to receive Reiki. Let’s say your friend needs Reiki. Explain to them how Reiki functions and ask them if they wish to receive it. He says yes, then you do Reiki healing.
On the other hand, even if you know that the person is suffering from some illness, do not set any Reiki if you don’t have permission. Just have good wishes for them but don’t do Reiki until you have their permission.
Also, when you do Reiki, do it for the highest good. Then you aren’t corrupting the Karma and it results in the healing happening at its peak. When you become a witness and you pass Reiki for their highest good, you are only helping nature or the Universe manifest what it wants for the person.
Being a witness doesn’t mean you are not setting any intentions. You can have a positive intention but leave the outcome on the Universe. It also requires you to be calm, free from anger, attachment, competition, jealousy or any kind of negative emotions.
Another thing that can result in karmic retribution is, if the healer has an ‘I’ or ‘ego’ in his/her healing. “Thinking or saying that, ‘I’ am the one who is healing and not the existence”, is not being a witness.
If this is so then he/she is definitely attracting karmic retribution because if you are doing it, you will get results too. Results are Good or Bad, based on the karma you do.
If you are a medium, there is no good or bad karma because you are not doing anything. Reiki is doing it. You are a medium. That makes perfect sense, isn’t it? And that is the way out of the karma trap.
Once you understand this and you are careful, you will never get into the trap of karma and never have to face karmic retribution. It is that simple.
Hence, Reiki practitioners should only request the Reiki energy to heal the receiver at a higher level and then allow the Reiki energy to move and do its wonder. Then you will not attract any karmic retributions.
Thus, learning Reiki from a qualified Reiki Master and then being neutral as a healer is a must for Reiki to heal at its best, without attracting any negativity.
So we can safely conclude that the practice of Reiki frees you from karmic retribution. Reiki frees you from negative thoughts and negative karma. Practicing Reiki does not attract karmic retribution when you respect other people’s will to receive Reiki healing or not.
When you surrender to Reiki and let Reiki flow through you and heal people at the highest level for their highest good, you can never be trapped in any karmic retribution.
When you don’t claim to be the healer and you give credit to Reiki for the healings and the miracles, you are on the right track.
When you are egoless and grateful to Reiki for all the good results you are getting, you keep progressing on the path of spirituality. This is the attitude of a Reiki Practitioner!
