Chakra Balancing in a Reiki Healing

When is it appropriate to incorporate chakra balancing in your Reiki sessions? Do you only do Reiki healing, or only do chakra balancing? Or do you do BOTH?

This article is about my approach to Reiki & Chakra balancing and what I discovered through my Reiki & Chakra healing journey. I hope this brings light to other alternatives to your current Reiki Practice.

When I first started my Reiki journey, I was taught only about Reiki, there was no specific training about the Chakra system. I thought to myself there has to be more about the Chakra system.

I took as many courses as I could find about the Chakra system and something inside me thought, can I just do Reiki without clearing the Chakras? The straightforward answer is YES. However, the benefits of doing both can only enhance your clients’ healing journey (in my opinion). There are many practitioners that only do Reiki and no emphasis on the Chakra system, and that is perfectly okay. I however have taken a deeper love for the Chakra system, and always incorporate clearing the Chakras as part of my Reiki healing sessions. Let me explain my reasoning.

The 7 main Chakras are all associated with various internal bodily functions. As you know, Reiki helps to balance our mind, body and soul. Reiki helps to restore, replenish and help with the healing process with your client and yourself during self-practice. Why wouldn’t I want to give my client the most healing outcome possible?

When I first started practicing on family and friends, it was natural for me to begin by opening the Crown Chakra clearing down to the Root Chakra. (With the client’s permission) I explain to the client I will place crystals along their Chakra meridians, and at the Root Chakra, I always place on the side of them. I’ve also incorporated a wooden pendulum; I was taught that a Crystal pendulum may actually cut into the Auric field and cause the Chakra to be disrupted/cut. Again, this is what I’ve learned throughout the years, and this is how I conduct my healing sessions.

As I make my way through their Chakras, I always go counterclockwise to cleanse and clear what stagnant energy that may be in each Chakra. I also do Reiki symbols on each Chakra. I was taught that you stay on each Charka until the pendulum stops, this may take a minute or sometimes up to 10 mins for each Chakra depending on each client. Once I’ve reached the Root Chakra and begin my way back up, I then go clockwise with my pendulum and assert positive affirmations to each Chakra to fill with love and healing; again, I have the pendulum to confirm each Chakra is balanced and cleared.

I then start my Reiki healing from the Crown position. Once the session is complete, I discuss with the client what I’ve observed. This is the time to explain if any messages came through from my guides and spirit. If a particular Chakra was unbalanced, I give the client guidance on how to keep that particular Chakra clear: by affirmations, colour & aroma therapy, food and drinks and even yoga poses.

Reiki flows exactly where it is needed; I like to incorporate the clearing of Chakras to help cleanse and clear the client. I feel it’s an extra bonus for them. I also know that doing Reiki will help promote healing and clearing all on its own and that I’m only the conduit for the Reiki to come through to and go to the client. Whichever way you chose, the client will always benefit.
