Reiki is a transformative healing modality. It can transcend time and space providing distant remote healing and it can also travel to the past to heal early and past life traumas and even our ancestors.
We may not know it but some of our current patterns/shadows may not be our but may be patterns carried over to us by our ancestors. This can be carried on through our connection with our mother’s womb, through DNA and/or by them afflicting their patterns onto us in order to heal them through us.

We can begin to help and start the process of this healing by sending Reiki to our parents, grandparents and going down the energetic umbilical cord connecting us all the way down to our very first ancestors.
By using the Reiki symbols: the Power symbol (Cho Ku Rei), the Mental/Emotional symbol (Sei He Ki) and the Distance symbol (Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen) we can begin to send them healing.
Begin by visualizing yourself in your sacred space, asking for our spirit guides to guide us and protect us in this healing process and that the healing to be for the highest good and in accordance with divine light and love. Begin on either your paternal or your maternal side visualizing an energetic cord connected to your mother/father, grandmother, etc continuing down the line up until you feel you have reached the ancestor needing the most healing, then begin sending Reiki with the Reiki symbols. Once you feel ready to return to your sacred space give thanks to your ancestors and spirit guides for their guidance, light, love, and protection during this distant healing.
Always be thankful, grateful for your ancestors, sending them much love and light. Remember them, leave them offerings and thank them, for they make us who we are through the traditions they left us.

Another possibility… Image yourself as a tree, and your roots being ancestors as far back as you are comfortable and/or wish to imagine… Ignite (or focus) Reiki cleansing to yourself first, from the leaves, to the branches, then to the truck… When ready; focus sending the energy down throughout your root system, healing all matters in family DNA / RNA, atomic levels, etc. throughout all; timelines, dimensions, parallels, etc. feeling this energy cleansing all roots and moving into the ground, then direct this energy to the core of the earth, vaporizing everything that no longer works for; us, them and all we have encountered… Stay in this place for however long that feels necessary… Then focus on this core cleansed energy, coming back up, through the roots, up through the trunk, throughout all branches, out towards all leaves, then out into the air releasing healing for All beings… Breathe; clarity, knowing, Being, refreshment and renewal for All… As far as what symbols to use (since there are numerous Reiki systems), utilize your intuition for what is right and works for you! End by thanking All for participating, slowly open your eyes, take a deep breath, stretch and go about your day… Bottom line, all ancestors (both recent and ancient) did the best they could, with the information available to them… The same is true for us… Let go, open to the purity that you; are, have always been and will always Be… Namaste…

Reiki symbols can be so powerful. You can also use them to send good vibes in the future or to heal our own past. And you can also use their power to do distant or absent healing. It didn’t went through my mind to use them for helping the ancestors though. But now I know it ca be used for this also. Thanks for sharing.
