When you first come into the Reiki world Reiki Masters can seem like people who are highly educated, have all the answers, and are supreme healers. They are a wealth of knowledge and can offer some awesome insight into the mysterious world of Reiki. However, do they really give better healings? Is a Reiki 1 Student really at a much lower level than that of a Master? Let’s examine this a bit.
One of the first things taught to a Reiki 1 Student is that Reiki is all knowing. Mr. Usui himself was into simplicity and in fact made things a bit more complicated in order to help some people relate to what they were doing better. Reiki Energy already knows how to get the job done by itself. We as Reiki healers are simply vessels for this energy. The Reiki Energy provides the healing. With that said once you are attuned to Reiki 1 you are able to be a vessel for this energy right away. Prestige, status, and what title you put next to your name does not have anything to do with the Reiki Energy a client receives. How you are able to open yourself up to be a vessel does.
One of the most beautiful things I have noticed with Reiki 1 students is that they are extremely open and excited to learn all there is about the new world of Reiki. This is exactly what leads to being an amazing vessel for pure Reiki Energy.
Openness + Simplicity = An Amazing Reiki Vessel.
In fact, many times the more you know about Reiki the easier it is to complicate things too much. Once Reiki sessions become too complicated with ritual upon ritual some of the pure, natural, and invigorating energy will be lost. Reiki is not something that can be controlled or manipulated by a Master or their ego. It is there at all times… free-flowing, beautiful, radiant, and most importantly all knowing. The Reiki Master (while a great vessel and perhaps blessed with some extra psychic gifts in some cases) is still in the end not all knowing.
What is the point of becoming a Reiki Master if a Reiki 1 student can give the same Reiki Healing to a client? Well, Reiki Masters can be really awesome!!! Once you become interested in a subject such as Reiki, it is fun to explore and learn as much as you can about it. It is also fun to network and collaborate with others who are as deep into the Reiki world as you are. Reiki Masters can be amazing teachers and are able to introduce you to a world that you didn’t know existed.
My message to you as a Reiki Master is this… Reiki 1 students, please don’t ever feel that Reiki Masters are above you or can provide a better healing than you. Have confidence in yourself and the amazing vessel you are. Yes, there are different levels of Reiki and different vibrational levels that we strive to be at. However, Reiki Energy is always all knowing! You are capable of being just as good of a vessel for Reiki Energy as any Master is. Don’t let Reiki levels hold you back. Get out there and start spreading the healing energy. After all, Reiki Energy came to find you for a reason.

I feel like I am not progressing (reiki 2). I must be stuck. I practice, meditate, pray, but still have not met my guides, spirit animal, received a message from the other side. My time since completing level 2 have been emotionally and physically draining.
Colleen, my suggestion is stop trying so hard. Reiki is all about light and love, allow the light and love to flow and you shall receive whatever the universe has in store for you. I would say your current lesson is stop wanting and allow.
Hi Colleen. I agree with the comment Chris made. Also, be aware of putting too much of your own energy into the session rather than stepping back and truly just letting the reiki energy come through. Sometimes we want something to help so bad that we put our own energy into it as well. If you notice this happening take a break, ground yourself and try again. ❤️

i have noticed many times that reiki energy flow is extremely powerful while we completely surrender to it. There is no point by adding so many rituals in reiki practice and make it complicated(in my opinion). we can choose two or three meditation that suits us and concentrate on it. thank you so much for your article.

I suppose it depends on the Reki practitioner’s teaching. I was attuned to Reiki1 then about a year later attuned to Reiki level 2. The level beyond that is Master. The symbols in R2 could be considered ‘props’ for the person to draw(in air or on person, paper)to send Reiki at a ‘distance’ or to the subconscious mind, future events, etc. One basically needs to be attuned to be opened to what’s considered stronger Reiki that Reiki1 healers aren’t yet open to in order to use. It’s like 2 ibuprofen are stronger than 1 even tho’ it’s still ibuprofen. I’ve advanced enough from regular use of Reiki 2 after so many years that now I often just request my Reiki guides to apply all levels(or appropriate symbols)needed while I lay my hands on myself or whomever for a minimum of 5mins or longer depending. I’ve been getting fine results!

And it is so! So much about trusting the light.
Its all about how pure are your intention while giving reiki and how much compassionate you are. Sometime a reiki 1st level student can be more stronger in giving reiki healing than a master because when u come into reiki u already have some power level in you. Once you get attuned u fill it more in some cases level 1 student becomes 100. So be pure and loving while doing reiki its all in god hand and he definitely listens to your prayer. I can say this because i am myself a master and have seen miracle happening.
