Have you ever noticed that when you are looking for a positive solution for a difficult situation, you receive messages in unexpected ways? The message may come through an inspired, seemingly out-of-the-blue thought. It may come from a passage in a book you are reading, or a song you hear on the radio. It may be spoken out loud by a family member or a co-worker. Or, it may come in the form of a message for a Reiki client.
Reiki is a great Source in the continual process of learning life lessons. Because we are human beings, we will always, always have something new to learn. Life on earth is a very challenging proposition, and each of us are on earth right now, in these stressful, problematic times, for our souls to gain more growth, understanding and wisdom.
Every time we receive, or give, Reiki, we open ourselves up to the messages of the Universe. When we set the intention that the energies are for the highest good of the client, or ourselves, we may receive some unexpected surprises. It is not infrequent that the messages I receive for a client apply to my own life. When I am struggling to find acceptance of a trying situation, I frequently have three new clients, in a row, who have similar struggles. For example, recently it seemed like my mind was focused on too many small issues and my peaceful existence was just a memory. Of course, new clients came into my practice verbalizing the same concern. I was reminded to simply find the time for quiet meditation. We know there is no such thing as coincidences. Everything happens for a reason.
Frequent practice of Reiki opens the door to new life lessons. The elderly people with whom I interact have taught me that the real secret to staying young-at-heart is continuing to stay involved with life, whether it is with other people, staying current with the news, or expressing themselves in creative ways. They have not stopped learning; rather, they intentionally continue to grow, in many wonderful ways. They remain open to the lessons of life and happily embrace the present moment. Energies of gratefulness and joy emanate from their beings.
Because Reiki is such a great foundational system for learning about how energy is everywhere, and how it affects our physical, emotional and spiritual beings, there are endless opportunities to continue lifelong learning. A person can easily spend the rest of their lives learning about such topics as chakras, mind-body-spirit connections, interacting with spiritual beings – the list goes on. Or, a Reiki practitioner may decide to add other energy healing modalities to her practice, such as working with gems and stones, aromatherapy, sound, yoga – numerous possibilities.
Whether it is learning about Reiki itself, or the many lessons Reiki gives us through our openness, it is all good and all valuable. Let each of us learn that the learning never ends – during our lives now and when we transition to a different level of existence. Let us always be grateful for the many life lessons that a life of Reiki practice offers us.
