Article by Deborah Lloyd, Reiki Master
This has happened several times to me… A friend, or a past Reiki student, will apologetically explain why he has decided not to become a Reiki practitioner in a clinic, or a Reiki Master. The person will say Reiki has been very helpful, but he does not feel called to practice on a professional level. The individual thinks I might feel disappointed. The opposite is true – what I hear is a thoughtful, guided process leading him into a different area. And, that is great!!
Reiki is the “entry” modality into the healing arts arena for many people. Reiki is becoming more well-known; it’s become easier to find a practitioner and easier to be trained; it is affordable. Many websites, books and seminars exist in the world. The accessibility has increased a hundred-fold, or maybe a thousand-fold, in the past two decades.
Reiki can be a stepping stone to other wonderful possibilities. When a person embraces Reiki, there is a growing awareness that complementary modalities are greatly needed in today’s world. It may lead one into learning about other healing modalities, such as crystal healing, color therapy, aromatherapy, and sound healing. Some Reiki students may feel called to become a massage therapist, yoga teacher or acupuncturist.
Reiki can be the stepping stone in forging one’s life path, as it can be used for every aspect of discovering one’s life purpose. It is a great foundation for all healing arts work; and, it is a great foundation for all work, whether it be in the corporate world, health care, one’s own business, or artistic endeavors. With frequent use of Reiki, a person brings a more balanced, deliberate, compassionate manner into his life’s work. There is a feeling of calmness and centeredness, causing a ripple effect of positive vibrations in whatever setting a person spends time and energy.
The spiritual aspects of Reiki in our lives is at the core of finding our life’s purpose. Once a person truly grasps the fact there is a meaningful reason why he is living in this place, at this time, with the gifts and heart desires he was given, finding life’s purpose is an exciting adventure. He wants to explore all the possibilities and see what career path resonates with his being. Many people credit Reiki for creating a spiritual awareness in their lives, and they desire to live out their calling.
The Divine Spirit always gives us signs when we are on the right path. When a person lives in this spiritual awareness, they become open to anything that resonates, knowing it is a sign from Spirit to delve into the subject. It does not necessarily mean you are going to change your life’s path, but it may mean you are supposed to look into this area, to learn some new information, expand your awareness, or help another. This resonance can occur with an inspirational comment made by someone, a seminar posting you see, a sentence in a book – the list is endless. This is another stepping-stone moment.
Reiki is available to all people to live a balanced life on earth, growing in awareness and love. Whether it is a stepping stone to another path, or Reiki becomes your chosen career path, it is a special gift. When we embrace Reiki, we receive guidance every step of the way.
