Healing with Star Anise

Hello fellows Reiki Channels, this is my first article on Reiki Rays the first of the series “Healing with…” wherein I did like to explore the healing properties of herbs and spices that is commonly found in the market or your kitchen garden. There is a plethora of information related to the uses of these plants in the World Wide Web but through these articles I wish to pool the information for the benefit of all Reiki practitioners. Most of the methods are personally followed, practised and tuned accordingly for healing purposes. So let’s start off with the first of the lot – Star Anise.

The use of herbs and spices has come a long way with the development of human civilization. They provide us with numerous health benefits besides adding extra flavour to our food.

Of the many, let’s look into the healing properties of Star Anise.

Star Anise which originated in China (also called Chinese Anise), lends an exotic taste and scent to a meal. However, it has more healing abilities than we know.

Biological

It is an excellent spice which promotes appetite and digestion. It relieves chest complaints and flatulence. It is a primary source of shikimic acid, a plant-based chemical which is a precursor to antiviral drugs. Star anise has been found to inhibit Epstein-Barr virus (the virus that causes mononucleosis), herpes simplex 1, hepatitis B, tooth decay and even HIV. Besides, being an amazing antibacterial and antifungal medicine, externally, it has been reported to help cope with rheumatism while the seed oil can be applied topically against lice.

Spiritual

And what if this very seed has spiritual properties too?

Element: Air
Zodiac: Pisces, Sagittarius
Gender: Feminine
Goddess/ God: Buddha, Quan Yin

Star Anise has magical healing properties especially when used to gain insight and psychic awareness.

The followings are its properties as a ‘spiritual spice’:

1. The seeds are burned to increase psychic powers.
2. You may wear it as beads for the same purpose.
3. Place them on your Reiki/healing altar to increase its power.
4. It is a general luck bringer and so you may place one in each direction of your house.
5. Powdered Anise seeds can be used to invoke blessings and remove negativity from the surroundings.
6. The seeds make excellent pendulums! ☺

You can include them in your healing sessions:

1. Powder the Anise seeds and burn them as incense before/during your healing session.
2. Anise seed powder can be place in small sachets and carried along for protection. A simple way could be to empty the contents of an unused tea bag, place the seed powder and staple it. Keep it with you for protection and to attract good luck. Yes, you may Reiki the sachets to bring you good luck throughout the day.
3. Sit down in meditation, calm yourself, invoke Reiki, cup 2-3 seeds in your palms, Reiki them for a while intending to absorb its property to increase psychic awareness.
Take a deep breath of the seed, smell it, absorb it into your system. Allow it to unlock your healing abilities even further ☺
4. Before and after a party, you can burn the seed powder as incense to bring in good vibrations and later to remove any stagnant energy from your home.
5. You can buy Star Anise from the local market, Reiki the entire lot to enhance its healing properties. Divide them for kitchen use and spiritual use. Every time you use it in cooking, it will enhance its biological properties.
6. You can definitely get creative and fix star anise seeds to make it into a ring, however big or small. Hang it at the entrance of your home (or office) to attract luck. Mix it with other spices like Bay leaf for enhanced protection from evil eye.

With Reiki, it’s always intent and the conviction that yields amazing results. Have a word with your Higher Self  if you have doubts prior to use.
