Along with the New Year comes new beginnings, a time to set goals to improve our lives. This is a great time to utilize Reiki to establish and reach our new resolutions. Usually, we are very good at making resolutions, but not so successful in carrying them out, especially as the year progresses. Setting intentions and using Reiki is a perfect recipe for success!
The first step is to use Reiki in setting your goals. Are your goals based in loving, life-enriching intentions? Will your goals help to improve the lives of yourself and others? Do your goals match your life purpose? Ask for guidance in setting goals and you will receive inspired ideas and thoughts.
The next step is to send Reiki to each of the goals. Some people like to write their goals on a sheet of paper, folding it, and placing between their hands while giving Reiki. Or, the symbols can be drawn in the air over the paper to add an extra energetic element. Others may prefer doing a vision board, adding pictures and photographs, to add a visual element to their Reiki meditative times. The actual methods used are unlimited; whatever resonates with you is the right way for you.
Reiki can be used when we “hit the wall” of our resolutions. Sometimes, it is as simple as feeling too tired or unmotivated to follow through on a plan. Place your hands on your solar plexus chakra and send Reiki to the intention of strengthening your willpower to carry on, even when you don’t feel like it. Or, place your hands on either side of your head, near the forehead. Send Reiki to your thoughts, transforming them from negative ones to positive ones. Changing your self-talk is certainly an essential aspect of pushing through the seemingly undesirable task.
One of the greatest benefits of Reiki is that it goes to the source of an issue – no matter where the root of the problem is. Last year, Sue made the resolution to exercise 5 times a week, and she did so, for six weeks. Then, she sprained her ankle while walking, and did not return to her exercise regimen. She decided she could not exercise and risk another injury to her ankle, although her ankle was fully healed. Then, she scheduled a Reiki session to help her get back on track. The following day, she felt nauseous and her stomach was unsettled. Through journaling, she realized her fear of exercise was much larger than the recent sprain. In college, she suffered a multiple fracture of her elbow while playing tennis. It was a severe injury, ending a possible professional career in tennis. Sue had never dealt with her feelings of disappointment and failure. Any form of physical activity had become intimidating and scary for her. With a few more Reiki sessions, she healed this fear. Because the Universal Life Force energies are always healing, any mind/body/spirit issue can be resolved.
And, most importantly, the simple act of using Reiki frequently enables us to have a more satisfying and successful life. We approach the tasks of daily living with calmness and serenity, facilitating a harmony of intention and action. We live a life based in love, not fear. And, that makes all the difference.
May you have a peace-filled year!

Hello,
I’ve a simple question.
I am initiated to Reiki Level 1.
I wish to know if I should do self-healing before sending Reiki to an intention..or can i do it directly without practicing it on myself?
