Reiki is the field we all practice under, however, we all have a certain niche or path that we follow. Our practice is first structured with the jargon that we learn as Reiki students. Then, as we progress as practitioners, our words surrounding Reiki change to reflect our practice. Our Reiki language changes as we define how we choose to be Reiki Practitioners.
Reiki draws people from a large swath of society and we inherently all have various interests that are reflected in our Reiki. What we speak of, the words that we use and how we convey messages all go into codifying our Reiki Language. Our Reiki words might be different depending on how we frame our messages. Our unifying message is one of Reiki. However, our individual Reiki Language can be unique. By understanding the different Reiki Languages we can collectively begin to shape our communication to widen our perception and discussion of Reiki.
Let’s look at some areas where we might focus our practice and how it shapes our Reiki Language. There will obviously be a flow from one practice to another. These are fluid concepts that might have more meaning at different points along your Reiki healing journey.
Is your home the center of your Reiki practice? Are your family members the ones that you most often share Reiki with? When cooking, do you imbue the food with Reiki? Do you do regular Reiki space clearings of the rooms in your house? This home centered Reiki is a language of love, nourishment, protection, and family.
Do you find yourself most often sharing Reiki with, and in, nature? Are you familiar with the vibrational energies of the plants and animals that live near you? Do you share Reiki with the earth to honor it? When drawing upon energy do you often invoke the elements? Are you seeking ways to live peacefully and be at one with all that inhabit this planet? Then your Reiki Language is that of nature, connection, oneness, green, above and below, guardian spirits, and creation.
Are you a traditional Reiki practitioner? Do you study the history of Reiki and try to follow Master Usui’s teachings? Do you trace the roots of Reiki and study the Japanese culture that influenced this healing modality? Your Reiki Language might include; mantras, affirmations, precepts, Shoden, Okuden, and Shinpiden.
Do you use your Reiki in partnership with allopathic healthcare? Have you incorporated this hands-on healing energy with your profession in the health field? Do you combine the science of medicine with the science of Reiki? Your Reiki Language might include words like: protocols, treatments, diagnosis, procedures, and prognosis.
Is your Reiki practice eclectic? Do you blend other healing modalities with Reiki? Is the realm of Metaphysics where your passion lies? Is Reiki a part of your spiritual journey? Do you seek to connect on higher planes? Then your Reiki Language might include words like: crystals, vibrational essences, planes, thoughtforms, ancestral healing, divination, and Divine.
Let’s open ourselves up to each other’s Reiki Language. Embrace our different paths, journeys, and professions. Let’s create a way to communicate that accepts all of our individual Reiki Languages.
