GERD – Moving Forward with Reiki

Approaching any physical ailment holistically with a deeper understanding of the underlying issue is what any Reiki practitioner would approve. What life lessons are engraved for a person who experiences physical ailment is what Reiki directs us to. Our bodies are primarily vehicles that channel messages through symptoms which are brought to our awareness.

I was approached for a healing by a client who was dealing with long, intense bouts of cough for which he was diagnosed with acid reflux or GERD. He was on prescription of antacid Nexium which provided temporary relief. It so happened that he was also dealing with a conflicting situation at that time and resorted to spiritual reasoning.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD is a digestive disorder that affects the esophageal sphincter. The symptoms are heartburn, ulcers, constipation. Lying down or bending over after eating also triggers heartburn or cough. Most people feel food in their mouth along with the acid as well as whooping cough that spikes and lasts for hours after eating.

Reflux means flowing back or returning contents of the stomach into the esophagus, which otherwise in normal digestion would be passed into the stomach and then held down by the sphincter to allow proper digestion.

Metaphorically, it could mean “I am not taking responsibility of stepping up/forward in life.” The third chakra, Solar Plexus is the seat of personal power, determination and accountability. In unawareness, we tend to give away our power to people or situations, succumb to fear and create doubts about self, Universe, or others. One of the holistic reasons for reflux is having to face situations where you were disappointed by your father/husband or a father figure that instills fear of trusting men and the uncertainties associated with it.

Being struck by significant life changes, a feeling of insecurity had engulfed my client. He unconsciously was using defense mechanisms and resistance instead of accepting, taking ownership, stepping forward and letting go all that was not serving in the moment.

Reiki to Solar Plexus, Heart chakra, kidneys, liver and spleen along with diet control the client to discover his true potential and uncover the life lessons.

He consciously changed his food habits and chose to avoid those that played a havoc with his symptoms. Chocolate, peppermint, coffee (exception of decaf), alcoholic beverages, besides avoiding tomato, garlic and pepper was what helped him. In slightly over a month’s time, his symptoms clamped and he was able to get back to his previous lifestyle with courage and clarity.

Holistically, our bodies, mind, and soul always communicate well before hand that something is not right asking us to address the imbalances. It is how promptly we seek to handle and resolve the disparity instead of waiting for it to manifest as serious disorders.

Reiki is one of the valuable therapies that aligns us cosmically.
