Article by Reiki Master Sunetra Dasgupta
My earliest memory of Ruby is a beautiful ruby ring which my grandmother had passed on to my mother. She told me it is quite precious as it was from Sri Lanka. I was never allowed to wear it but was always in awe of it, when I gifted myself a pair of ruby earrings, I adored and loved it, but unfortunately, whenever I would wear it, my temper use to soar like a rocket, hence with a heavy heart, I gave it away.
When I got introduced to Reiki and got my first Ruby crystal, I was quite apprehensive to use it based on my previous experiences, but then I realised that Ruby as a crystal was suitable for me as opposed to Ruby as a gemstone.
Physical description of Ruby
Ruby is an epitome of beauty, with its red colour shining through. In ancient times, it was considered much more expensive than diamonds. Legend has it Chinese Emperor Kublai Khan offered an entire city, in exchange for the significant size of a ruby.
Why own a Ruby?
When we visualise the colour red, two things pop in our heads. Love and lust! This is one of the properties of Ruby! It is an aphrodisiac, which will make one sizzle between the sheets and also increase mutual love and respect for the partner. It also helps in developing self-love in a person, and see self in a beautiful light. If your love life is great, then congratulations!
Other things for which Ruby can be used
- To detoxify the body, blood, and lymph
- Is helpful in treating fever and infections
- It stimulates the adrenals, kidneys, and spleen, and aids inadequate circulation or energy flow in the feet and legs
- It may also be used to assist in weight reduction, especially when one resorts to emotional eating
- It helps in letting go off things which do not serve us anymore and helps us to forgive and move on to our life path
- It helps in maintaining the balance between our physical and spiritual life and also helps in manifesting our wishes.
- Ruby is associated with our Root chakra and helps us in Kundalini rising.
- Ruby is also an excellent stone for inner child healing.
I personally use Ruby in water-based crystal elixirs and Reiki grids. I generally keep programmed Ruby on my Reiki boxes or on my Reiki crystal grids. In my experience, Karuna Reiki® combined with Ruby has worked wonders for me quickly and for the highest good for all.
