Help for when You Think Reiki Isn’t Working

Some people give up on Reiki before they even give it a chance. They decide that nothing is happening and so it isn’t doing anything, so why even bother continuing. They forget the subtleties of Reiki. The different layers of healing. That you have to keep on keeping on to get results. Sometimes Reiki is working on the smallest level to help you better yourself, and sometimes yes it’s gonna take some time.

Here are some tips to help you when you feel like Reiki isn’t working.

Don’t stop Reiki. Keep it going. Make a game if you want. Set a timer for 5 minutes, get Reiki going, see how you feel, if you like the experience continue on. Sometimes it is difficult for us to feel Reiki doing its thing when we are doing it on ourselves. Remember, Reiki goes where it needs to go, and you don’t have to feel it.

Let go of your expectations. Thinking Reiki should work a certain way will only bring disappointment. Reiki is intelligent and goes where it is needed at the time.

Stop trying to analyze everything. Am I feeling it? Am I feeling it now? Oh maybe I’ll feel something here. Do I feel better now? Stop trying to feel anything. It’s like a luxurious hot bath enveloping you in it’s watery embrace. Just letting the water hold you while you relax. You don’t wonder if the water is hot, you know it is. You don’t wonder if the soap is cleansing, you know it is. So simply enjoy the experience of Reiki.

Have you talked to the person that trained you in Reiki? Sometimes talking to your teacher can really help put you in the right headspace again. Have you talked to someone that went through the “Reiki doesn’t work” phase and gotten past it? They can share what helped them.

Lastly, remember that Reiki isn’t just energy healing. Review the Reiki Principles, learn how to recite them in their original Japanese. Chant the principles. Start doing gassho meditation. Show more gratitude, allow more kindness into your life and reflect it back to the world, do the hard stuff, and then place your hands upon yourself and Reiki.
