No more just a hippie thing, tattoos are quite common today, across all sections of the society. Did you know that the art of tattooing has been around since Neolithic times? Much of it was done as a part of rituals to increase the access to certain types of energy, and they had a very intense, powerful effect on the body. Today, this aspect of tattooing is forgotten, and it has become a mere fashion accessory.
When a design is carefully chosen, it can enhance the aura and even heal energetic defects. However, random tattooing for the sake of fashion or sentiment shreds the aura of a person, leaving it frizzy and damaged. Obviously, this affects the areas of life associated with the damaged energy as well.
A Tarot reader I know got a sacred Egyptian symbol tattooed on her arm. She had such intense experiences, and finding herself the verge of insanity, rushed back to her tattoo artist within a week to get it altered. Another friend got the wrong tattoo on her ankle, and it affected her personal life. Her relationships got back on track when she learned that the tattoo might be the problem, and got it altered.
Tattoos are quite permanent, and their effect on your energies even more so. It is important to give them a serious thought before you get one.

Selecting the Right Tattoo
If you want to get a tattoo, spend a few days meditating about whether this is a good idea, and also to get guidance about the right symbol.
Every night before you sleep, request Reiki for guidance about where on your body the tattoo should be and what the right design should look like. Often, you will find that you are drawn to certain pictures when you search the internet. Sometimes, guidance also appears in dreams or through friends.
Tattooing it Right
Also request Reiki to guide you to the right artist to get your tattoo with. The ‘hands’ make a difference to the energy of the tattoo. Once you’re decided, ask your artist if he’s ok if you Reiki the tattoo gun. A tattoo artist who learned Reiki with me regularly healed his tattoo gun, and found that he made a lot less mistakes, and the number of clients fainting during the process dropped to a fraction.
During the tattooing, Reiki the spot being worked upon. Start with all the symbols if you have learned them, and then repeatedly draw the emotional healing symbol on that spot as it is being tattooed.
Remember to heal it after tattooing, and your skin will be back to normal much sooner.

what is your opinion of the symbols of reiki being incorporated in the tattoo?

I see Reiki symbols being used everywhere – on crystals, in tattoos, etc. As an Indian that sees these things as sacred, it is not something that I’m very comfortable with. As for tattoos of Reiki symbols, I’m sure they could have various impacts. If the tattoo artist is a reiki channel it might be a lot more effective, and if the person getting the tattoo is deeply guided to get it done, it might be pretty powerful as well. I’m not sure how it will pan out in the long run though, because in my experience we outgrow everything with time. What works well now, might not be so right for us 20 years down the line. But who’s going to wait that long to find out 😉

I perform sacred tattoo ceremonies utilizing the ancient ways of shamanism with the modern ways of hypnosis and NLP… setting strong intention…amplifying the submodalities in one’s subconcious mind getting my client to a peak state and then rancho ring the spot of the tattoo thousands of times with the tattoo machine to make that tattoo a tattoo of power whenever they touch and take a deep breath…they revoke the empowered state in themselves at will.
2 of my tattoo apprentices have gone on to incorporate reiki into their process and I am playing around with quantum touch now as well.

Hi, have you thought about a redesign or cover up? Turning it into something new? You have to be careful with the design and find the right person who can do it well. I havr a tattoo i got when i was 19 and am looking at a mandala design to go over it, I don’t hate it it was part of my journey but I’m on a different path now and think that’s the way to go.
Sorry about the delay in reply Hena, i was traveling most of Jan. Yes a redesign or removing the tattoo might be a good idea, but before that I would suggest that you reiki that area everyday and request that part of your body to guide you to do what is best. You never know how these things turn out – you might even get guided to the right tattoo artist to help you out with the best option. Good luck!
Thank you for the article. Good cautions and great suggestions for asking what and where to tattoo. A few years back my sister and I got matching tattoos on our inside wrists of a Tibetan symbol meaning “unconditional love” . We wanted the tattoos to connect us and to remind us of the most important intention during our respective healing work. Her work as a physician assistant and mine as a reiki practitioner.
Great article, I have 3 very carefully chosen tattoos which give me strength, the latest is about connection and I sat with crystals on it sending reiki as it healed, it has a wonderful energy. I love tattoos that are well thought out and have meaning, usually takes me a year to get a final design together!
Love the article. I was always against tattoos but then started my journey and felt the pull to get one. I decided to get angel wings but when i got to the palour i looked at the guy and said a unicorn on my neck. I never realized i said those words.. any got my unicorn on my neck and love it.. Then a year later decided to get another tattoo and my angel wings. Got to the same guy looked at him and said dream catcher on my shoulder….it was meant to be
Great article! I have a tatoo I thought about getting for a couple of years before I got it. My life has improved greatly since. I have a kinji symbol next to my heart on my left bust meaning Devine spirit! To me it means I keep God close to my heart for eternity. I notice my vibration is much higher than it used to be. Even when I do energy healing on people I have the ability to adjust bones to the correct location with just touch and using my voice. I made people hips straighten up, backs become straight, bones, heal faster, people appear taller. Even myself is gained 1.5 inches by working on myself because my bones used to hurt. My husband bulging disc is healed and no more pain for him. One of my gifts are to help bones of people.

I have got the Reiki symbols s for Power & Distance tattooed one on the inside of each wrist. I asked my Reiki Master beforehand if it would be appropriate as I did not want to be disrespectful!
After having them done, the Reiki energy is stronger & more focused.

I loved this article…I am also a Reiki Master and I also have chosen to get two tattoos…both have so much meaning to me..My husband and I adopted our beautiful daughter from foster care she came to us at the age of six, and she had really been shuffled around so her placement with us was her sixth home…needless to say she had some trust issues..anyway she drew a self portrait at the age of six and it had a big huge smile on this picture…so of course l saved it…now flash forward two years later..now we have leagally adopted her..she still didn’t believe she wae really staying..so l took that drawing and had it tattooed on my calf..when l got home that day and showed her..my eight year old sat there and shook her head at me and said “woman, your crazy that’s there forever! ” And l told her just like you! ..That tattoo changed everything..she began to trust us and that was huge!

I had the Reiki symbols tattooed – Tibetan master symbol, SHK and CKR down my upper spine to mid spine, and HSZSN on the inside of my right arm. Whilst I feel that they have enhanced my connection to the energy, I have also been unwell with one thing after another since having them done – coincidence? I’m not sure!

I had been thinking about getting a tattoo for 20 years but it wasn’t until I trained in Animal Reiki and saw the Zibu symbol “Begin Anew” during my course, that I immediately knew that was the tattoo for me. I love it and it was particullarly relevent as I was starting my reiki journey, and am leaving behind anything that doesn’t serve me.
Seeing this today is very timely. After a few years on contemplating, I finally got a reiki symbol tattoo earlier this week. I love it and have no regrets.
Hi Ashwita. My husband was keen for me to get a tattoo done for very long. I o the other hand was not sure at all. Just very recently I have been wanting to get one done. It is a very strong urge to get it done. The motifs that are most appealing are a peacock feather, a dragon fly and a butterfly, in that order. I had heard that the tatoos that you wish for have a meaning and so I read about it on Google.
I am sceptical about and at the same time wanting to get it done. Please help.

Really enjoyed this article. I have 4 tattoos. They all mean something to me and were designed by me (even simple ones were designed by me not picked off the boards in shops). They also al took a while to come to fruition from a couple of months or even a few years. The one I am wanting now I’ve been after for about 4 years now but am struggling to draw what I want or find a good tattooist who will do it justice. I think I will try reiki on it to see if I can get any inspiration/or even reject it all together
