A favorite saying of mine is, “Home is where the heart is.” An important element of common sayings is the principles behind them reveal great truths. The truths may resonate strongly within us – and this saying has always resonated within me.
This saying can be seen on two levels
- the first is that home refers to the place where we live, whether it is a house, a condominium, or a facility such as a nursing home or other elderly housing.
- The second is that home is where our hearts live. We love being in that emotional space of love and comfort. We may feel it when practicing Reiki; or, when we spend time with our spouse/partner; or, in those moments when we know we are living in our authentic power, our truth.
Where we live should be a place of comfort and sanctuary from the outside world. It is the place where we can express the true natures of ourselves. Unfortunately, this is not always the case in other settings, such as the workplace or in the community where it may be necessary to “play the game.” We may need to concede to our supervisors or to our neighbors, in order to keep our jobs, or to avoid unpleasant interactions. But, in our homes, our goal is to live within our hearts, expressing our feelings in words and actions.
Reiki can be used in many ways to create a home for our hearts, our truths. In the settings where we live, we can use Reiki to create energies of love and harmony. As our understanding of energetic vibration grows, we realize how everything emits energy. This includes our furniture, wall hangings, paint colors, plants, etc. – every single thing we choose for our living space. If we set the intention, we can learn to choose items that support harmony, not disrupt it. And, we can send Reiki to improve the existing energies within our homes.
On another level, we can use Reiki to enhance all personal relationships. Beginning with ourselves, we can ask Reiki to aid us in becoming more patient, listening fully to the words, and body language, of those with whom we live. When we need to have difficult conversations with those we love, we can give Reiki to ourselves and send it to the conversation. When we need to forgive others, Reiki can help us to make the decision to forgive. And, it can aid us to accept forgiveness from others. Close relationships provide many opportunities for using Reiki! The energies that exist within our hearts and our relationships can be enhanced by these healing energies.
The Reiki way of life is a path of loving kindness – towards others, our homes, the world environment, and for ourselves. Reiki enables us to live a peaceful life, if we are willing to take the time and energy to create it. This is living within our authentic power – we have the power to create beautiful and meaningful lives.
Do your heart energies match the energies of the place where you live? Do you feel a sense of calmness and relaxation in your home? If not, what can you do to create this atmosphere? You have the power, and the tools, to manifest this serenity.
Home is where the heart is. May you experience the many blessings of Reiki!
