Article by Deborah Lloyd, Reiki Master
Living life in the flow of Reiki is a much easier way of being. Remember your life before Reiki – looking back, doesn’t it seem everything was more difficult? There may have been feelings of resistance towards your workplace, or within your relationships. Or, there may have been feelings of being disconnected from other people, or from the Divine Spirit.
How does Reiki practice change the experiences of our daily lives?
It brings calmness and peace to us, making it easier to deal with chaotic situations. For example, if you work in a stressful, toxic environment, Reiki can help you to approach each day from a place of serenity, rather than a place of anxiety and discomfort. Or, Reiki may assist you in rearranging your priorities and making the decision to find a job with less pressure. When we open our minds to a new way of being, every problem looks less daunting, and solutions come into our lives.
Reiki connects us to the Universal Life Force – the energy emanating pure love. As we grow within that love and understand we are worthy of the best things in life – the best things come our way. We see the small miracles that exist in this world. We experience amazing, unforgettable moments. Day by day, we realize how living in accordance with Spirit is much easier than working against it.
I came across this quotation from Ralph Waldo Emerson recently: “Once you make a decision, the universe conspires to make it happen.” Immediately, I thought of how Reiki has changed my life, in so many unforeseen ways. It seems once I made the decision to have a Reiki session (now eighteen years ago), my life received hundreds of blessings. When I decided to become a Reiki Master, life flowed even more smoothly. The daily decision to use Reiki, at least for a few minutes, continues the flow.
A few weeks ago, I retired from my fulltime hospice social work job. Anyone who knows me will tell you I have a strong commitment in my heart for supporting patients anticipating their transitions and for their loved ones. I loved the work and view it as another way to bring physical, emotional and spiritual healing to people facing this challenging time.
While some of my colleagues wondered how I would cope with this significant change in my life, I truly have no concerns. First of all, I still have my Reiki practice and plan to continue to offer sessions and trainings. I will continue writing and teaching others about its many benefits. And, I know Reiki will help me, on a personal level, to embrace this transition. I have been asking, and receiving, guidance on ways to enhance my wellbeing. It is time to focus more on my health (mind, body, and spirit), on my marriage and family – and it is time to travel more and experience new things!
In other words, the plan is to live in the flow of Reiki. Everyone has life transitions – those times when major changes occur in our lives. It can be a marriage or new love partnership; it can be a child; it can be returning to school or a new career; it can be a move to a new city; the list goes on. Working with the Universe can provide the easy flow – and Reiki assists us in finding and living in it.
