We all have trouble falling asleep sometimes.
It’s an inevitable byproduct of the modern lifestyle we live. Busyness, constant stress, artificial lights, lack of movement and little to no time outdoors can make it difficult to release into the rejuvenating sleep your body needs.
Keeping this in mind, some great ways to improve sleep quality are regular exercise, spending time outside, grounding (aka Earthing), turning off technology (blue lights) a couple hours before bed and any form of stress reduction.
Along with directly addressing those factors, Reiki can help you fall asleep as well. Because Reiki is deeply relaxing and stress-relieving, it is the perfect practice for creating a good night’s sleep.
Here is what I do to help myself fall asleep…
Rock-A-Bye Reiki
- Lie on your back.
- Take several deep breaths into your belly to enter into a relaxed state.
- Activate Reiki energy.
- Place one hand on your Solar Plexus chakra and the other on your Heart chakra (it doesn’t matter which hand goes where).
- Repeat “Sei He Ki” to yourself three times to activate the mental/emotional symbol and bring peace to your mind and body.
- Feel the energy gently flowing through your entire body.
- Visualize yourself as being bathed in soothing, relaxing energy.
- Release any sense of control and completely let go.
This practice brings me to the brink of sleep within minutes. It calms my mind, relaxes my body and allows me to slip into sleep much more easily than I otherwise would.
It’s also a good technique to help you learn how to sleep on your back, which is the healthiest position to sleep in (especially when it comes to your neck and spine).
Try this out for yourself. Use the steps listed above as a general template but ultimately do whatever intuitively feels right for you.
Much love.
