The Color Green

Did you know that the human eye can distinguish more shades of green than any other primary color? Imagine looking into a wooded area with many kinds of trees and plants, with the wind gently blowing. You will see hundreds of shades of green, and with each new breeze, the leaves turn slightly, creating more beautiful hues. You feel joy from your observations of these gifts of nature.

It is not a coincidence that the color green is associated with the Heart chakra, the center of love and compassion. As any Reiki practitioner knows, there are many lovely energetic sensations emanating from the heart. As these energies grow and expand during a Reiki session, the receiver experiences the many possibilities of harmony and healing. As all healing originates from the Heart chakra, the Divine Spirit pours its unconditional love throughout a person’s entire being. Unconditional love is the core, the foundation, of healing throughout a person’s physical, emotional/mental and spiritual aspects.

Part of the human condition is the challenge of maintaining the awareness of the presence of unconditional love. And, it is even harder to give unconditional love to those important people in our lives. We can make intentional and committed efforts to live unconditional love, most of the time. Due to our emotional makeup, we often live within the many shades of love. Although we love our spouse or significant other, those moments of annoyance or disappointment affect our emotions. Life on earth is difficult, and it is hard to maintain the perfect, most loving energy possible, all of the time. Our lives are just like our imaginary woods, with the many shades of green, changing with the breeze.

Reiki helps us to live our highest intentions! When we use Reiki more and more on our own Heart chakras, we become more in tune with the possibility of unconditional love. We find a new level of peace and serenity, and we realize how any negative thought or action brings negative energies into our being. As calmness becomes anchored in our being, we are able to expand these loving energies to the people in our personal lives, and to all people on earth.

Like all colors, the color green can have some negative connotations. If a person becomes green with envy, or becomes greedy in accumulating too much money, bringing in the healing green energies of light will decrease these negative goals.

Inviting the color green into our lives will enhance our highest intentions of living in love. Notice all the green around you and give gratitude for the beauty of nature. Especially if you live in an urban area, make time to visit a local park as often as possible. Nourish your physical body with walks in the park and by eating fresh green vegetables and fruits. Calm your emotions with pleasant light green colors, just as mint or sage green. Soothe your soul with active meditation, using the healing green rays of light and love.

By setting the intention to bring the healing energies of the color green into your life, you will be able to remember the unconditional love that is always available to you – and you will be able to spread this love to the people who are closest to you, and to all the people and other living creatures on earth.
