Healing is a therapeutic process. Where does it start and how does it work is something that somehow only a few would explore and those few are often interested in providing good answers to scholars such as Reiki students or clients willing to understand a deep energetic process. However through practice we have noticed that most often when clients come for Reiki, they already carry with them a certain amount of trust or intention in the process. Their belief that Reiki will work is often their strength. Now if we review a bit how does healing work, we can actually unfold a bit more how Reiki fit in this process. To the question about the effectiveness of Reiki we hardly answer by a “Yes” or a “No” simply because it would be simplistic. Let’s compare with electrical wires. Unless being an electrician and thus requiring much knowledge of how electricity works, we don’t really need to know how it works to believe that switching on and off will give us light or charge our phone. We believe it will switch on, we somehow trust that electricity will do its job. With Reiki, the rational mind needs to be entertained to be able to calibrate information – often “How does this work”? This why it is in my view of utmost importance to know a bit of the basics of how energy works and how Reiki works to be able to explain a healing process to someone who is either undergoing healing or wanting to be understand more. Moreover, we would like to underline the different frequencies existing between Absolute Healing and Relative Healing.
First of all healing is about frequencies and likewise the pulsing of the heart it is possible to measure its electro-frequencies. The brain is also an electrical center recording and reacting to pulsing, sensations and other stimulations. The system works by integrity, all pieces of the system working like an orchestra and all different pieces require the others to work as well and have little chances of existence if extracted from the system. Moreover each component has a specific function to fulfill which cannot be replaced by another one. The liver has no existence outside the body on its own. Creation is a vast programmed matrix of fundamental automatic connections. A bit like being on auto-pilot, stimulations are acquired, installed and well settled and the product of repetitive thoughts or actions. The nervous system gets accustomed to receive required inputs at each electro-pulsing. Hunger creates a vacuum to be filled and within that response is a coordination center for a vast array of thoughts towards a response and to create a pattern or a sequence. Peers, beliefs, feelings, emotions, habits can create patterns of healthy eating, junk eating, random eating and the same.
Secondly, healing is about reaching to the memory chip of that matrix of stimulations and pulsing, reaching to the auto-pilot and the memory storage capacity. Each cells of the body has a memory, like a tiny chip which will become accustomed to receive similar responses to similar stimulus. That chip has its own intelligence and can even take over the control of the habit by sending interference signals – allergies for instance created by an over-stimulation of some categories of components. On the other hand a lack of the given established response can also creates a signal – i.e. a headache could be a result of eliminating a drinking habit of regular doses of coffee from a diet of abundance of coffee and the body will react with an alarm in this case the headache. The coffee per se is not the issue rather the memory chip inside the cell which was influenced by the eating/drinking behavior.
Coming now to emotions and thoughts we can further illustrate the fact that thoughts being energy in action can influence positively or negatively the functioning of this auto-pilot memory chip activity that is within our cellular body. Moreover, the power of thoughts is also governed by categories. There is clinical evidence that the left-side of the brain governs structural thinking and focused thinking (detailing) as well as the body functions on the right-side of the body while the right-side controls, emotions, creativity, global visioning as well as the motions on the left side of the body. There are many more centers of the energy in the brain what is important to us here is the fact that the nervous system control impulsions and pulsing which are of electrical nature and send virtually short messages to the rest of the body and each cells accumulates that information, stores it, distills it and uses it. When too much is too much, it overflows and sends signals as well as when there is lack.
Thoughts come from various entry points in the mega center of coordination that is our mind-body-spirit matrix of connections and have their own role in creating patterns of behaviors and patterns which can influence the state of health of the body. As such thoughts influence the state of health as they have an influence on the type of data that the cells will store at their own benefits or not. Being healthy and considering one healthy all is fine until a bottleneck occurs. The bottleneck could be manifested in many ways (from headache to cancer): thoughts will have their part to play in restoring health or contributing to deterioration of microchip. Much of healing is invisible to use, it occurs within, we cannot see it, we can feel it and feed it, in time we could also see it, in the mirror!
Through our decade long Reiki practice we reached a point of considering two aspects of healing depending on the intention to allow and accept the re-structuring of the micro-chip to occur or not with all its process to unfold which can require change of habits, eating habits, thoughts and beliefs, in other words, a growth process. Relative healing is a way to allow a process to be triggered by letting the Reiki energy to flow and harmonize the various energy centers into a new equilibrium. Often this is manifested with a client saying “I really feel much better, lighter, balanced”. This however may or may not be the ultimate healing rather just the beginning of a longer process. It often is difficult to say and only time will tell. Some clients are willing to go deeper and reach the root of the cellular micro-chip programming. That will bring us steps closer to Absolute Healing, a state of deep balance and harmony with an effective auto-pilot of well-being. To reach that point will require not only intention and allowing the energy to flow, yet to deeply intent and accept what comes with it; be it toxins release, fear, anger, obsessions, deep rooted sense of abandonment and the same. Re-birth is often about Absolute Healing and the result is not only enlightening it is also opening wide gates of gratitude, compassion and trust with the Universal Law of Healing Energy within Reiki.
Healing is a holistic process of working with both the physical and the metaphysical functions of the body and including the mind [thoughts and emotions] in the matrix of inputs. Healing is a holistic approach to health with a good component of personal accountability to one’s own health. In other words taking responsibility that all that is needed to heal, the intelligence of healing lies in the body-mind-universe connection and the highest guidance to find balance again is in that exact location within the body. In healing, the mind-body connection is considered being a very important data for the progress of the process of healing and Reiki is our ally within this process. Intention is key within Reiki as it catalyses a placebo effect ( having a supportive intention to a positive result) versus a nocebo effect which is the exact opposite of focusing on a negative possibility which will actually generate a worsening condition. The placebo effect is a physiological response to an intention to heal. From this perspective intention is then defined as a force as a powerful positive energy. Our recommendation is to look close at our thoughts, accept to change a bit that little micro-chip programming, and accept to consider healing rather than being a random process with a probability of resulting in a positive outcome, a very deep process of change with a strong focus of wanting to be healthy, being an alerted observer and listener to the body’s needs while consciously [intentionally] supporting the process. This is the journey to Absolute Healing with Reiki as an ally.

She practices Reiki since 1999, lived in 15 countries over 4 continents and brought Reiki as an ally to experiences several realities. After becoming a Usui Reiki Master Teacher in 2008 she travelled to Hawai’i and studied directly with William Rand, Founder & Director of the International Center for Reiki Training (US) and trained as Karuna® Reiki Master Teacher in 2010. This was a breakthrough and a further leap in the practice as Karuna® Reiki brings a firmer alignment and synchronicity with grounding bodhisattva energies.
