Cords are etheric attachments to your aura that bind you or connect you with a person, object, or situation. They create a sense of stress and strain in your being. They may also create obsession and obligation.
If you are feeling drained or obligated in a certain situation or relationship, you probably have cords attached to your aura. Some cords are past life ones, which you have still not cleared. And if those relationships are still there with you in this lifetime, then you will create the same pattern over and over again.

Irritation or sadness thinking of a certain time or episode in your life, also means there are attachments to your aura. Especially if you have had any tragedy or trauma, the cords will be very heavy. You may also not be able to get over the passing away of a deceased loved one. That’s because the energy fields between you still have not been cleared. Cords need to be cut. They keep your energy clear and free.
If you are worried about breaking the relationship with a person, don’t because only negative and fear based cords get removed. Cords based on mutually beneficial relationships will not get removed. Even if you accidentally cut away these cords the relationship will not get affected. Cords are not just based on people. There are situations and objects people are attached to. Addictions or OCD of certain types can also be cords.
Emotional cords can be caused by divorces, separated couples, unable to recover from your break up. Cords always have negative emotions such as ego, fear, hurt, unforgiveness, anger. We often realize this when we enter a relationship or a job with positive expectations and then all hell breaks loose! So let’s get down to how we can remove these cords.
The Reiki Way
Do the basic grounding and calming of your mind. Connect to your aura with HSZSN, saying “connect me to all my etheric cords” three times. You will be able to sense or see the rope like attachments in various parts of your body. Pull them out gently. Seal those gaps and points from where you pulled out the cord, with CKR. Keep doing this for all the rope like attachments. You will know when it is done.
If you are not comfortable doing this work on yourself, you can do it on a teddy or ask a Reiki friend to do it for you.

The Non – Reiki Way
This is for everyone, who wonder that they can’t do this exercise if they are not attuned to Reiki! Simple calling and praying to Archangel Michael will help. He has a heavenly sword which is for this purpose. He will remove all fear attachments from your aura. If you suspect or want to clear past life cords or karmic cords, call upon Archangel Raziel. Whenever you work with any angels, just ask them to do the thing for you and surrender. It will be done!
You should do it at least once or twice a month, to keep your relationships healthy. Also, you feel lighter. I do it almost twice a month. It keeps me energetically light and in control of my personal power. Don’t worry if some relationships end because of this exercise, cause they were not serving you any purpose.
Remember cords once cut can come back again. So you will need to repeat this exercise often. Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing such a wonderful technique.
However I think it can be done with more ease in a “Reiki Way” without involving any complications of Identifying and cutting any cords at your own.
We can also do this in the following way (another “Reiki Way”) :
1) “Do the basic grounding and calming of your mind” or use any other method which you might be doing before connecting to Reiki energy.
2) “Connect to your aura with HSZSN” or Simply draw the HSZSN symbol covering your whole body.
3) Since Reiki has its own Intelligence, you can simply request Reiki energy – “To cut all those cords gracefully wich are connected to you and not serving you for your heighest good, and fill the space with Divine Healing energy”.
4) Draw CKR symbol to lock the healing properties of the Reiki Energy.
Point to be noted here, the cords which you are cutting at your own, may re-connect to you but the cords which are cut by Reiki energy will not be re-connected as the Reiki energy often works on the “Root cause” of the problem and heal it.

Wow, what timing. I’ve had an on an nd off again relationship with an ex. I know this relationship to be toxic, and also have a pay life connection. I want so bad to move past this experience. I’m now engaged to be married to someone else. Wendi, do the exercise the same but instead of HSZSN, do some body scanning and try to locate parts of your body you feel have cords. You could also just do reiki on all the chakra centers to cut cords. Use the same intentions as above. To seal it instead of CKR, just state intent for the reiki to seal, then maybe do an aura cleanse to seal with the reiki to strengthen your personal power (so as not to give away power and cause cords to remanifest). You can also incorporate the angel clearing with the reiki too and fill up any holes or depletions with reiki until it overflows.

I place and tie energy balls where cords are removed and program them to continue any healing work needed as long as it is needed HSZSN/symbols, whatever is best at this time for this life form and the greater good, the Universe responds. The sharing of energy is referred to as cording among healers. This cord represents life support tubing energetically by connecting two individuals together. Babies are born with a higher energy connection naturally attaching them to their mothers. This is normal, but there comes a time for a mother to cut the “Apron Strings”, allowing her child to go out into the world on one’s own. This is not only appropriate, but necessary for the personal growth of the child. If a mother fails to break the cord, the child will eventually attempt to do it on his or her own. This too is also appropriate and a healthy sign, but may occur with complications and anger.
Unfortunately, our world is full of unhealthy relationships. In these situations, individuals cling to one another by allowing “cord attachments” to occur between them. If the energy sharing were done equally, there would be no need for cording at all. Thus, it is healthy to be in a relationship without cording one another. It is in fact preferable. Couples that share their lives together may also create a relationship in which one individual becomes weaker, the other stronger. The weakened person feels collapsed, because of giving away his or her life source. The stronger person feels great for a time, but his or her appetite may very well increase, craving more and more of the shared energy and thus driving the other person into unhealthy dependency or even suppression.
The shamanic method emphasizes sensing the cords where they are attached, removing cords and filling in the holes new, healthy energy. Ground yourself and connect to Great Spirit (Higher Power, Energy, …) Create your circle, ask for any guides or guardians to assist you. Light a candle, as you like. Ask Great Spirit to be able to feel with your right or left hand any areas on the body where there may be a cord of energy attached from another person. Do the front of the body first by scanning with your hand. When you feel something, use your nails and fingers. You can also use your medicine stick or other ritual instruments (Phurpa, curved knife, …): Intend and visualize you are removing the cord from the skin or the body. Push the cord out of the aura and explode it. – After cord removal, channel (Reiki) energy into the spot where the attachment was and pat in on the skin to heal and seal the aura. Now seal the aura and fill the body with light and love.

Cutting cords is dangerous! You don’t cut cords! You will be left with phantom pain! Instead, redirect the energetic cords…re-route it. Science proves that our brain patterns can re-route themselves just from our thoughts. There is no cutting there. Reprogram the intention of direction. This is very powerful.
I don’t mean any disrespect to anyone, nor the author.
When I tried, in the past, to cut cords, I was left with more pain. Then my Guides and spirit Healers showed me the correct way to handle negative and draining energies.

1. Ask my Reiki guides and guardians, gods and goddesses to join me, support me, and protect me.
2. Ask that all negative energy cords attached to my physical, mental, emotional or spiritual bodies in any time, space or dimension be released and immediately reattached to the earth’s crystalline energy grid to be re-purposed for the greatest and highest good of the sender.
3. Ask that Reiki heal and protect any place where these cords have been protected, and fill those spaces with peace and compassion, with truth and love, with hope and joy.
4. Say, “Thank you , thank you, thank you.”
I have shared this with clients who are struggling with especially emotional issues (relationship/recovery) with excellent results. I also use it during Reiki treatment if the energy feels it is needed. It has cleared so much out of my own life that no longer served my life purpose, and I highly recommend it.

My husband & I saw 2 mother-fawn pairs on Saturday (4 days ago) & last night we were awakened in the night by the cries of a tiny fawn caught in the livestock fence netting we use on our farm. We went out & gave it Reiki, invoked St. Francis & cut the cords from the little one’s face & middle. It was uninjured so we gave it more Reiki & released it since we could see the mother deer nearby. We are so deeply grateful to have been able to give Reiki to a wild creature, & to receive its gifts of awareness of the power of gentleness, nurturing & fragility. The Great Mother has blessed us again.

Hello. I am in a relationship for psst 8 years. But recently we had certain issues in our relationship as my boyfriend got attached to another girl but he admitted he did wrong and now everything is fine. But now whenever I see talking to him with any girl, I am filled with doubts and suspicion and filled with negativity. Etheric cord may be one of the connections to your Aura. There may be many other forms of connections.We may have to release all the energy entities embedded in our energy bodies by the procedure nicely explained by various commentators and the Author.
While requesting Reiki or in making affirmations,let us use only positive statements/affirmations(eg. don’t say cut the cord).
Healing and transmuting the energy entities embedded in our energy bodies into Divine energy of light and love may be a better request to Reiki.

I believe that energetic connections do happen for reasons of getting different experiences on our earth platform of Duality,
But when the going gets too tough and the person in the relationship needs to resolve this experience – it is best to free one’s self from an ongoing sapping relationship.
I believe by cutting the cord from our end, probably the cord on the other end may still not be resolved – thereby leaving a possibility of outflow of the other person’s energy from the unresolved cord,
Hence, I propose taking away energy from the cord, so that they on their own contract back to each owner. This can be done by connecting with the Higher Self of both the individuals, to resolve.

I have been reading a book on shamanic reiki and the many ways journeying can help by connecting to our spirit guide and asking them to help the other persons spirit. I can seem to helping ones that are not related, but how do we protect ourselves from our own family members who are so negative? The only thing I can think of is not associating with here.

Thank you so much for posting this for free for people. I have really bad post traumatic stress disorder and HATE having energy cords to evil people I used to know. I stopped talking to them FOUR YEARS ago and I still dream about them forcing me to talk to them even though I really don’t want to. It feels like knives on my mind that this is still happening to me and nobody cares that I talk to about it.
