As the end of the year draws near, I have a bit of a breather and opportunity to reflect on what has been, what is, and what is to come.
What Has Been
We finally came out of Covid-19 lockdown periods and life returned to normal – at least for most people. I do, however, not see too much of the “new normal” that so many proclaimed to have embraced during and over the past two years. If anything, it is as if there is this urge to make up for everything that people think they have missed out on during Covid-19 lockdown. Many could not wait to get back into the rat race and the state of living where being real and being connected to self and community are avoided at all costs. The initial spiritual awakening brought about by the Covid pandemic was quite remarkable but for many the stage known as the dark night of the soul is not exactly what they bargained on. So, instead of pushing through and doing their inner work, post-Covid freedom provides the ideal escape back into the comfort of their comfort zones.
Yes, I know this sounds cynical and pessimistic… but this is the reality that manifested in my healing practice and the post-Covid client profile. And it is with melancholy that I have to acknowledge that, as much as people wanted to embark on their healing journey amid Covid-fear, many were pushed into it even though they were not ready. Having their comfort zone threatened “forced” them into seeking some way of making sense of the emotional upheaval they were experiencing. Escaping their pre-Covid comfort zone is not easy. And certainly not for the fainthearted. Having the opportunity now to fall back into the comfortable and the familiar has been heaven-sent, and many grasped it with great relief and glee… a sigh of relief for being able to return to the familiarity of their comfort zone.
And yet, reflecting upon what has been, I have so much gratitude… For…
- Having survived the treacherous two years that have come to pass.
- The many clients and students that have come, that have gone, and have stayed with me in my healing practice. I see every client and student as providing an opportunity for me to heal, to learn and to grow – just as much as I support them in their healing and growth.
- The opportunity that presented itself to strengthen my experience in distant healing and distant attunements.
- The international footprint I have been able to create through platforms such as Reiki Rays.
What Is
2022 is drawing to its close. I feel somewhat exhausted in body, mind, and spirit. I have come to realise that I am suffering from caring too much and being too intense. BUT… I have also come to the realisation that these qualities are to be embraced and they are blessings, provided that I practice what I preach and do my regular self-care and Reiki self-healing. As things are slowing down and with the summer holidays around the corner, this is an opportune time to take a break to rest and re-evaluate, reflect, and evolve.
Being in this moment I am grateful for…
- My family and all the love and beautiful moments we share.
- My clients and students that show up – not for me but for themselves. I am immensely honoured to be part of their journeys.
- Reiki healing that is such a wonderful integral part of my everyday life – I do not just practice and teach it… I live Reiki.
- All the lessons and the blessings that brought me to this point.
- Being able to be here and now.
What is to Come
I am looking forward to the break and the rest this time of year has in store and being able to spend time with my loved ones.
I am also looking forward to the new opportunities that the new year will bring… and me evolving to embrace these opportunities. There has been an inner shift brought about by what has been and what is. And I am looking forward to the manifestation of what is to come. There may be a slightly new direction within my healing practice. But whatever and however this may manifest, I know that this will be solidly founded in the beauty and wonder of Reiki. And I am immensely grateful for this and excited to see how everything unfolds.
But first, rest.
Wishing everyone a wonderfully blessed time of rest and rejuvenation. And may 2023 be filled with great opportunity, joy, love, and Reiki.
Namaste.
