Drawing Reiki Symbols as A Spiritual Practice

Articles

28 Apr 2021

Reiki is a spiritual practice. One of the important parts of this practice includes drawing the Reiki symbols. Reiki is a methodical practice and it has a holistic approach.

It involves the procedure of:

  1. Attunement
  2. Guidance from Reiki teachers
  3. Prayer
  4. Reiki Principles
  5. Learning and Drawing the symbol
  6. Self-Reiki practice
  7. Being a Reiki Practitioner

The Reiki teachers/Masters teach us how to draw the symbols step by step. Drawing the symbols can be taken on a new level; it can become a meditation practice as drawing has been a part of extracurricular activities since childhood. Usually, the Reiki symbols are drawn with either one finger or all the fingers in the air. This can be turned into a wonderful and calming art practice. There are many benefits of drawing.

Some of the benefits are listed below:

  1. Fine motor skill development
  2. Improves our creativity
  3. Connects with our inner child artist
  4. Improves focus and concentration
  5. Help to release stress

Drawing the Reiki Symbols can become part of your morning ritual. It can be done as per your schedule and convenience and does not have to be a regular practice. This can be incorporated as a mindful practice. All you need is a paint brush, your favourite water colour or any colour medium, colour of your choice, and a plain paper. Or you can keep it simple with the help of a calligraphy pen.

Drawing Reiki Symbols as A Spiritual Practice

Reiki Morning Ritual of Drawing the Symbols:

  • With the morning sunrise, take a sunbath in the early rising sunrays.
  • Start your day with the blessings of Reiki and prayer.
  • Find a comfortable place to sit. Align yourself, keeping the back straight.
  • Take three deep breaths.
  • Take a white plain paper and with a paintbrush draw the Reiki symbols you are guided to and feel the positive energy flowing through you. As you slowly and easily make the strokes with the paintbrush or with the calligraphy pen, feel the gentle energy within.
  • Connect with your authentic self and as the breath flows, allow your hands to flow gently and draw the symbols.
  • After drawing the symbol, join your hands together, smile, and be grateful to Reiki and all the masters, visualise the symbol drawn and say it three times. For example, if you draw the SKH symbol, say SKH three times.
  • If you are using the calligraphy pen, while doing the upstrokes, make it like a thin line. And while downstroke, make a thick line.
  • After this practice, keep your eyes closed for some time and allow the gentle, grateful, and loving from below and above to fill your body.
  • Again, take three deep breaths, open your eyes and be present in your body.
  • Feel the light within and allow it to spread in your surroundings with your compassionate thoughts and actions. And have a joyous and vibrant day.

Happy practice!!
