We all know the Gokai, the five Reiki principles of Mikao Usui which we have previously discussed in Part I of this series. Although easy in their enunciation, the principles (first five of the Six Reiki Pearls) are very difficult to follow/accomplish/execute in daily life.
The Sixth Pearl is the affirmation KYO DAKEWA, “Only for Today”
This affirmation is, itself, an instruction for Life. It places us on (better say, sends us to) the right moment of our lives, the present moment, leaving behind the past and not taking into consideration the future which, being unknown, is built in every moment of our present lives.
It is interesting to note that the AA also use the affirmation “Only for Today” in their path for “freedom”.
All Reiki principles are focused in the present moment – Kyo Dakewa – giving strength to the power of “The Here and Now”, the future is unknown and, as the past is already gone, it doesn’t make any sense to live thinking/worrying about it.
There is a wonderful phrase, I quote, that says it all: “there are two moments in which you cannot do anything for yourself, Yesterday and Tomorrow”.
Time, as we know it, is an invention of our mind with the sole purpose of dividing the day; in quantum physics we have the Continuum Space Time.
The worry with the past is certainly a very good example of one of the most useless things we can do in our life.
The Past is gone and it only influences the Present if actions taken had implications in the future. In the Present, any influence (of the Past) has already been manifested, we change nothing thinking over and over about the Past and, the more often we go to a given negative moment, the more negative energy we add to it.
We build our reality in every moment of our lives and it’s in the Here and Now that we have to live. The past is gone, we cannot change it, what has been done is done and we have to learn how to live with that.
If by any chance we have done something wrong, or have left something undone, we have to try to correct it. It doesn’t make any sense to worry about it as we will attract negative feelings (energy) to the present, hindering the possibility to live it in full.
In the universe nothing happens by hazard, everything in life has a purpose, very often not understood. Every moment was necessary to help us in our growth and evolution.
The events of the past took place as they were necessary to happen so we could take the lessons of life and evolve (or not) according to the way we reacted to them. Everything (good or bad) that happens/happened to us is/was a lesson. It’s up to us to learn/have learnt it or not.
The only thing real is the Here and Now. The Present moment is a gift, we have to accept it and live and enjoy it as much as possible.
We make our own future as our actions, thoughts and words (words are a very strong energetical manifestation) as forms of energy are projected into the Universe and influence the future. The Universe is like a Wall; we send a red ball and a red ball bounces back, not a green or yellow one. With energy it’s the same: positive energy in, positive energy out – negative energy in, negative energy out.
With Reiki we have the possibility to program the availability of energy in a given moment and place and we can send it, as well, to the past, to a given painful moment, to soften the negative energies associated reducing this way the negative drag of energy in our lives.
We have to live the present building our future daily and in the present moment.
