Article by João Antão Marques
Many articles have been written on Reiki and Crystals and, most probably, many more will be written in the future but what I intend with this article is to pass a little of my experience with Reiki and crystals.
For me, the energy of crystals is a wonderful gift of nature and I have had the opportunity to use it while treating those who ask for my services. And, luckily, there are lots of Reiki practitioners that use crystals in their work.
In the Universe energy manifests itself in an infinite range of frequencies, the crystals’ being one of them. Crystals have bright energies that enhance our healing capabilities and help us in many aspects.
As we know, Reiki is the art of channeling the Universe Energy to harmonize/equilibrate the vital energy of those receiving it. There is no doubt that Reiki has no need of crystals to do his job but, why not use these two energies altogether and benefit of the synergy of their respective energies?
My experience, in the use of the combined energies of Reiki and crystals, has taught me that we achieve an enhanced level of treatment so, as a result, we are able to reduce the time spent in a treatment.
In the first treatment, and without the use of crystals, I spend five minutes in each position of my “standard” sequence but in the following treatments, I always use crystals and only spend three minutes in each position, thus having more time to address specific questions of the client.
Each crystal has its own intrinsic energy and can be used for specific purposes irrespectively of being small, medium or large, in fragment or polished, also each chakra has crystals associated, namely, among others:
- 7º chakra – Amethyst; Crystal Quartz; Herkimer Diamond; Fluorite; White Crystals;
- 6º chakra – Lapis-lazuli; Sapphire; Azurite
- 5º chakra – Aqua Marina; Turquoise; Blue Topaz; Chrysocolla; Blue Lace Agate
- 4º chakra – Emerald; Rose Quartz; Green Jade; Green, Rose and Watermelon Tourmaline; Malachite.
- 3º chakra – Topaz; Citrine; Tigers ‘Eye; Golden Calcite, Gold.
- 2º chakra – Calcite; Orange Quartz; Cornaline; Ambre.
- 1º chakra – Rubi; Red Agate; Grenade; Red Jasper; Black Tourmaline; Smoked Quartz.
Bearing in mind the specific utilization of each crystal, it is possible to select a group of crystals to be used during a Reiki treatment.
The crystals I most use are; Amethyst; Rutile Quartz; Fluorite; Rose Quartz; a variety of obsidian called “Tears of Apache”; Citrine; Malachite; Blue, Rose, Green, and Watermelon Tourmalines; Selenite; Clear Quartz; Charoite; Moss Agate; Kunzite.
Fortunately, I have a large group of friends with sentient capacities thus being able to assess with them what they feel using different crystals, it is a very interesting experience that allows me to “fine tune” some applications confirming, at the same time, what I already knew, Reiki with crystals is different.
It is interesting, and a little disturbing, to watch the behavior of some crystals. The majority of people will consider that crystals are inert, that they do nothing but, their intrinsic energy interacts with our own vibration and the stone shows different behaviors in different situations.
One of the stones I use very frequently is Fluorite and this stone, in three different occasions, has shown three different behaviors, either producing the sensations of heat, cold or not producing reaction at all, thus meaning that the stone adapted itself/reacted to the way the patient was feeling. It’s’ like the stone knew how to behave in each situation.
One of the situations, that occurred with the Fluorite, was very interesting, the patient, a nurse, was evoking a very painful situation that led to the death of a very close friend. As the level of negative energy associated with the memory increased, she reported that the Fluorite, she had on her Front Chakra, was turning ice cold and I had to remove it.
After receiving the attunement in the level two in Karuna© Reiki, I decided, as training and preparation for a professional career, to practice Reiki as a volunteer having selected, for that purpose, an institution for the rehabilitation of drug and alcohol addicted. It was interesting to notice that they all reacted very well to the Reiki treatments but while the drug-addicted were always ready to have a treatment, the alcohol-addicted very frequently found excuses to avoid them.
Hereafter I describe a little of my experience in which crystals had a very important role.
One of the characteristics of drug-addicted is the constant ebullition/turmoil of their minds (I cannot describe clearly what I felt in my hands as it was a very heavy energy), so, I decided to use Fluorite to calm them as this stone works the spiritual turmoil and promotes the physical, mental and emotional equilibrium and helps in concentration. They all reacted very well to it and some reported that the stone makes them feel safe, a very interesting information.
Bearing in mind the high levels of negative energy produced by drug-addicted, during their day-to-day activities, I used, for the purpose of energy cleaning, the “Tears of Apache” a variety of obsidian that works as an energy vacuum cleaner. After the energy cleaning, I continued the treatment using Rutile Quartz, and other crystals, that were placed on the chakras exception made to the Crown chakra.
As expected, afterward, all of them seemed to be calmer and with clearer ideas (the psychologic fog involving them seemed to fade away) and whenever they felt unbalanced, they asked for a Reiki treatment.
As there were several women in the group I worked with, I decided to use with them the Rose Quartz in order to ease the emotional suffering that, as mothers, was affecting them.
According to my experience, of what I’ve seen and the comments I’ve received, I can state that crystals are a precious complement of the wonderful therapy Reiki is and that’s the reason why I will continue to use them.
I’ve always loved crystals and presently I not only continue to love them but also respect them for what they offer us.
Although crystals are wonderful, girls, especially if using necklaces with natural stones, have to pay attention to their use. As the stones will be near the Heart and Throat chakras, the stones to be used are those that are: white; rose; green; blue/dark blue; lavender-purple (like charoite); Quartz crystal; Golden. Stones to be avoided are those that are; black; red; orange; yellow; brown.
The most indicated ones to be used in necklaces are: amethyst; charoite; lapis-lazuli; blue lace agate; rutile quartz; blue topaz; rose quartz; malachite; emerald; green tourmaline; sodalite. Nevertheless, a stone to be avoided in necklaces is the Aqua Marina.
Much more could be said about these gifts of nature made available to us and, to finish, a suggestion – never through a crystal into the garbage, return it to nature instead.
