Reiki and the Act of Praying

Prayer has always been an important part of my life. Since being trained in all levels of Usui Reiki, I have included prayer in my practice. After doing so for a period of time, I found that I wanted to create “My Reiki Prayer.” I wanted my prayerful practice to incorporate my Reiki beliefs as well as my Christian beliefs and life style. We can have many beliefs that contribute to our growth and the person we wish to be. Reiki has been part of my life for almost twenty years. I am grateful for all the amazing contributions it has made to the person I am today.

I hope my prayer encourages you to create a prayer of your own. It can be in any style or format, short or long. Let Reiki energy flow, listen to your heart and the words will come. The purpose of the prayer is for it to speak to you as you live life. You can recite your prayer at any time including before a Reiki self-care session, treatment of a client or when teaching a student or class. It will add to the experience and help with the healing process.

The following is

My Reiki Prayer

I hold my hands in prayer
greeting energy that flows
thankful for the loving spirit
filling me with light and love

Open to all that I receive
never knowing how it may be
I am thankful for what comes my way
allowing me to know and never doubt
healing energy flows in and out

As my hands warm I pray
let me serve in a helpful way
creating a peaceful, healing place
as a channel for healing energy
for those who wish to receive

I am grateful for who I am
and the knowledge I have
sharing the healing gifts of Reiki
in a caring and giving way

Knowing Reiki can do no harm
I receive the healing energy to share
with an open heart and healing spirit
greeting whomever comes my way

Let me be humble for gifts received
without fear of what may be
my prayer is with gratitude and love
as I am guided along my life’s path

I pray for guidance as I proceed
to call upon Reiki to help me
as energy flows to expand my growth
to be an instrument of healing and love

Whatever your spiritual path, prayer can offer a moment of peace, reflection and a break from a busy day to be with oneself. It allows you to be present in the moment before you move on for the rest of the day. I offer my prayer freely to you if you wish to recite it from time to time.

Again may I say, my hope is that by sharing my prayer it will encourage others to create their own special prayer to add to their Reiki practice. I have many prayers I call upon, some written, memorized and spontaneous at the moment. My Reiki Prayer is a special addition to my prayerful and meditative practice.
