The whole zombie apocalypse thing is pretty popular. Granted it’s for fun, but most people are zombies. As Reiki practitioners, we aren’t always immune to the zombie-fication process. We fall into routine and sometimes get stuck. Not only in life, but also in our Reiki practice.
Wait…what? Zombie? Huh?
It’s unavoidable; at some point in your life, you’ll be considered a zombie. Someone living on auto-pilot. Living a strict 9-5 schedule and hating it. Maybe you’re a zombie and don’t even know it! That happens a lot, people just don’t realize they are a zombie.
There are multiple ways Reiki can support us on our journey back to the land of the living and to purposely creating our lives:
1. You need to start actively making decisions and choices.
Not choosing and not really making decisions just keep you going in the same direction. You are choosing to be a zombie by not doing anything differently. That is counterproductive and unhelpful.
So how can Reiki help with this?
For quick choices, I ask Reiki to help me make the one that is best for me at the moment. I might use the mental symbol to bring clarity, or I might just ask for guidance from Reiki. Depends on the day, questions, situation, choices.
“Hey, do you wanna go out with the rest of the class and have dinner?”
“Sounds wonderful! I’ll be there!”
That is a non-zombie response because you don’t know what’s gonna happen, and more than likely it’s different than what you would normally do.
If a decision doesn’t need to be made immediately, write down the circumstances, the choices you need to make, and whatever other details you need to know to make an informed decision. Use your judgment on what symbols to use if you have access to them, and send Reiki to the situation for the highest and greatest good for you and your life. You can do this over the course of a couple of hours, days, weeks, etc. however long you have to mull over the decision. Reiki will help bring clarity to what you need to do.
Reiki helps reduce stress in making decisions and that is why it’s helpful to call upon it when we need to make them. Reducing stress helps us make better informed decisions, and thus allows us to be unafraid to go on and MAKE decisions.
2. Switch up your routine, in your life.
This is harder than it sounds, but the most useful part of becoming a human being again. If you tend to do the 9-5 thing and never change it up, stop that.
If you don’t run Reiki in the morning, I suggest you start. Ask for Reiki support in creating a wonderful day that helps you live the life you deserve. Maybe you keep the same routine because you don’t feel like you’re worth it to change it up. That mindset is zombie. You deserve an awesome life and you are totally worth it. Once you get past unworthiness feelings, making the decision to start change will be easier.
I suggest giving yourself a treatment when you feel unworthy to change. Not only will you feel better, but think about it…if you feel unworthy in life why the heck did you invest in your wellbeing by Reiki training? If your mind starts to chatter with feelings of unworthiness, acknowledge them, then start quietly chant Reiki or the mental symbol as a mantra to get back to peace.
3. Switch up your routine, in Reiki practice.
When I decided to change up my routine, I gained skills that I would not have gotten had I kept doing the same thing every single time.
When I became a level two I always drew the symbols on both hands and then start with the hand positions in the exact order I was taught in Reiki one. Good results, but I got bored, and a zombie for a Reiki practitioner isn’t very mindful of what’s going on. I switched to drawing the symbols above me (or my client) and intending that they rain Reiki energy where it was needed most. I moved on to drawing the symbols in the air and actively pull the energy down into my body or allowed the energies to fall into my client. Now I draw the symbols in the air and create a chi ball of Reiki symbols before asking myself which chakra I need to put the ball for the greatest good. When I get my answer I place the chi ball on that chakra and send more Reiki to it before moving to another one.
I personally love coming up with new ways to use Reiki on myself and others so I switch it up a lot. It helps with creativity, and I’m making the decision to do something different.
4. Is your life your own? Or did someone tell you what you need to be/do?
This is a big one. If someone else pretty much runs your life, then you aren’t living YOUR life. You’re living their made-up life. To get out of this version of zombie-fication and get on with YOUR life you first need to create boundaries and honor them. Let Reiki help you with this emotionally and spiritually. It will be hard to create boundaries if you’ve never used them before.
You might feel like a bad person for wanting to live the life you want, but don’t let that stop you. You deserve to be happy. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Use Reiki not only on yourself but also on the situation. Maybe that person doesn’t actually realize what they are doing. Talk to them. Do Reiki before, during, and after this conversation so that you are supported, calm, and that everything goes for the highest and greatest good. Remember not to Reiki what you want to happen, but what is best for the situation.
Create a plan of action to discover your goals and desires and use Reiki to help.
5. We forgot to enjoy ourselves along the way.
Sounds simple, but we forget to add fun-ness to our life and then we get in stuck-ness and it’s hard to climb out. We need to inject some fun into our lives. Using Reiki is a fabulous way to do this. I personally like to practice new techniques for fun. Getting feedback from using the techniques is always fascinating and it adds to the wonder that is Reiki and life. Trying Reiki with other things is fun too. Infusing crystals with Reiki to boost a crystal healing. Using Reiki to clear energies from oracle cards, then asking for guidance. Experimenting on the shifty office copier…
Reiki has an abundance of ways to help you come back to human-land after being a zombie, those are just a few. What ways have you used Reiki to keep you from going into zombie-mode?
