Finding Extraordinary in the Ordinary

I love doing the laundry! Some of you may be thinking I have lost my mind – and others may be relating to the statement. You see, it is not the laundry itself, but rather the meaning of being able to do the laundry that is significant for me. In our previous house, our washer and dryer were in the basement, and I was not able to carry baskets of clothes up and down the stairs. So, my husband did the laundry, and I did the folding, on the ground floor. In our current home, the washer and dryer are on the main floor, and I have returned to being the main laundress. I find joy in this recaptured ability.

This makes me realize how much I take for granted. I can do yard work, drive a car, go shopping – the list goes on. Like everyone else, I do not think about these abilities very often – until I lose them.

On the other hand, there are some things I do that I always (or almost always) feel gratitude welling in my heart. Being with family members, having a wonderful time with my husband, loving my job, reading a book – the list goes on. I see the wonder of the gifts that are true blessings in my life.

Reiki can certainly help us to grow in awareness of the Divine in all the blessings in our lives. The Divine was always there, but we lived in a state of non-awareness. Reiki helps us to connect to the Universal Life Force energy, making it a reality in our lives. As we practice Reiki more and become connected to the Divine more often, we learn to see the Extraordinary in everything in our lives. We take less and less for granted.

Our lives consist of many daily routines and tasks, from the moment we wake up until we fall asleep at night. Isn’t it extraordinary that we breathe, eat, talk, walk, and relax? Isn’t it extraordinary that we were given the gift of life? Stop and think about it! Our lives are miracles.

Our lives can also be full of struggles, problems, anxious, and sad times. It is much more difficult to find the blessings during these difficult times; yet, the blessings are there. How many times have we looked back on a hard time in our lives, and seen the spiritual growth, the new understanding, or the ending of a relationship that needed to end? Perhaps, the most extraordinary aspect of it all was that we survived the situation! After some time, we may be able to express gratitude to the Divine for the event.

Probably, the main reason why Reiki helps us to see the extraordinary in life is this: Reiki itself is extraordinary! Being able to facilitate energy healing in others, and ourselves, is participating in a miracle – each and every time. Let us never take the gift of Reiki for granted.

Take a few moments, and think about all the ways Reiki has been a blessing in your life. It is nothing less than miraculous….
