A client informed me she had just started a new job, with substantially higher pay than her previous position. The following mantra came to my mind, to be shared with her – “I am worthy to be financially comfortable.” She immediately wrote down the mantra, as it resonated with her thoughts and feelings about her personal financial circumstances. She shared that she grew up in a home where finances were always tight, and many of her wants (music lessons, new clothes) were left unfulfilled. As an adult, she frequently was in financial straits due to a shopping addiction. She reported feelings of euphoria when making purchases, followed by periods of shame upon the receipt of credit card bills.
As this client continued to work on healing this addiction, she uncovered many of her beliefs about her self-worth. She realized she judged her worthiness by how well-dressed she was, and how much money was in the bank. Eventually, she forged new beliefs about her worth as a loving human being.
With cooperation and often a significant amount of self-reflection, Reiki aids us in removing emotional blocks. These blocks may have resulted from childhood experiences, damaging comments made to us, hurtful relationship losses, or any other source. These blocks can prevent us from viewing ourselves as deserving of the wonderful aspects of life.
The emotional/mental healing symbol, Sei Hei Ki, is a vital component in the healing process. One interpretation of this symbol is “God and man become one.” Or, in other words, the healing energies of the Universal Life Force aid us in remembering who we truly are. We are always connected to the One who only expresses unconditional love for each and every one of us. This unconditional love is always available; we only need to recognize the connection and tap into this Divine Energy.
When teaching Reiki II, I have been asked when to use the symbols. The answer is – use all of them every time you use Reiki for others, or for self-treatment. We, or the client, may not be aware of the underlying emotional blockages of a physical condition. As physical symptoms lessen, frequently emotional issues arise to the surface for healing. Often, these issues need to be explored through meditation, journaling or psychotherapy. Continued Reiki sessions throughout this process will accelerate the process, enabling a quicker resolution to the blockage.
In our fast-paced, money-centered world, financial concerns are common. While these concerns are real, let us not overlook the emotional blockages that may be worsening the situation. In the same way, any other life difficulty can result in emotional blocks – or, emotional blocks can create more challenges in our lives. Let us always be open, and accepting, of the many ways Reiki can bring healing into our lives.
