Hello,

When I do Reiki my hands are hot, and the patient or client feels the heat. But sometimes my hands are ice cold and this reflects on the person too. Could you explain the cold energy please? Thank you.

Hi. This is Angie with Reiki Rays.

It is not uncommon for Reiki practitioners and their clients to feel a number of sensations during a Reiki session. Heat is the one we hear about the most, but people often feel other sensations, such as tingling or pulsing or cold or momentary pain or discomfort as they are giving or receiving Reiki. These are all ways that we sense energy blockages moving, shifting and releasing within the client as the Reiki energy moves through them.

When you feel cold, instead of heat, it is because the type or density of the energy that needs to be cleared is different from in another situation where you have felt heat.

In a situation where you are feeling a stronger sensation of any type, no matter if it’s cold, heat, tingling or whatever, that is a signal to stay in that area and send Reiki until the sensation eases away. Reiki is working to clear energy there and the energy it responding. In other words, the cold you feel should be seen as a good sign that the Reiki is working exactly as it needs to, just as it always does!
