Each of our chakras is associated with a color or range of colors. Like sound, color is a frequency and these frequencies can be used to tune and balance the chakras to help keep them healthy. We can use a wide range of things to bring in the color frequencies we may be needing for better balance. The following list may help.
Root Chakra
The root chakra is most often associated with the color red. Other colors that correspond to the root chakra are black and brown. Wearing a piece of clothing of the color red can boost this chakra. Eating foods that are red, such as strawberries, raspberries, beets, tomatoes, or red peppers can help bring balance as well. There are many crystals that are red, such as red jasper, ruby, garnet. These can be carried or worn as well.
Sacral Chakra
This chakra is associated with orange. You can choose an article of orange clothing to help balance this chakra on days you feel it needs soothing. Foods that may help balance the sacral chakra are carrots, squash, pumpkin or oranges. You may also choose to carry or wear stones such as orange calcite, carnelian or orange kyanite.
Solar Plexus Chakra
Yellow is the color related to the solar plexus. You can choose to wear something anywhere on your body of this color. Eating yellow foods like corn, banana, peaches, lemons or grapefruit can help as well. Or try carrying lemon quartz, citrine, or golden chrysoberyl.
Heart Chakra
The heart chakra corresponds to the color green, so wear green somewhere on your body if you are feeling unbalanced in this chakra. You could also choose to wear the color pink, which is often associated with this chakra and the heart, as well. You can also give yourself a boost by eating some green foods, which are always great for you, such as broccoli, spinach, green tea, cilantro, green apples, kale, and many more. Carry or wear stones such as green tourmaline, green calcite, jade, or malachite.
Throat Chakra
You can balance the throat chakra by wearing the color blue. Also, eat foods that are blue, even dark blue to black, such as blueberries and blackberries, black plums, black olive, black beans. You may also wish to carry a small piece of sodalite, turquoise or aquamarine.
Third Eye Chakra
This chakra is associated with the color indigo, a deep blue purple color. Choosing a color to wear in the purple range can help balance this chakra. Purple foods such as grapes, raisins, purple cabbage and eggplant can help this chakra. Stones that are purple can be useful for this chakra as well. Try amethyst, sugalite or charoite.
Crown Chakra
This chakra is related to violet. It is also sometimes related to pure white or even to colorlessness. You may choose purples or violet shades to boost this chakra or you may feel drawn toward white. Again, purple foods may help balance this chakra, but white foods may also be helpful. Try foods such as cauliflower, onion, ginger, garlic, leeks and jicama. Crystals such as clear quartz may be beneficial for this chakra.
When using color for balancing the chakras, use your intuition to guide you on any given day. If you are feeling drawn to a particular color, go with that! There may be a reason you need it in your life that day.
