How to Get Through “The Dark Night of the Soul”

Many have asked me “Does Reiki do more harm than good?” I too have echoed the same sentiments for sometime. The reason they ask this is because our lives become chaotic with Reiki. Due to the cleansing process, we release pent up emotions, face challenges in our careers and relationships, lose friends and loved ones suddenly, etc.

Why do these things happen when Reiki is about peace and love? My answer is, Reiki does not do any harm, in fact it takes you towards your true desires. However, this transition process can be quite painful. Reiki is the path to Enlightenment, your Buddha self. Before the Enlightenment, we go through a phase of spiritual depression. This is known as the ‘Dark Night of the Soul.’ It is the darkest period in a person’s life, when it seems as though everything is stuck. You can lose jobs, relationships, can fall ill, lose money and live in isolation during this time. The longing for a soulmate increases as well.

A typical dark night phase lasts from six months to four years, depending on the severity of the lessons you are expected to learn. Some say, Jesus was going though the Dark Night phase from the Last Supper to his death on the cross. Buddha went through this phase when he left his comfortable palace and roamed about his lands. He saw some shocking painful truths that he had been unaware of till that time. Every spiritual leader, political leader, scientist, artist goes through this phase.

When the phase ends, you are on your way to success, because after dark comes light. However, during the phase the universe pretty much takes away everything from you. The only thing that remain with you are your talents and gifts. This phase becomes less painful when you become more creative. Also, this is an excellent time to get to know the ‘Real You.’ Once you are out of this phase, you won’t have time for yourself. You will be asked to serve humanity on a large scale. Everything will be handed to you on a platter!

I have observed people usually come to Reiki when they are going through this phase or are about to begin this phase. That is why the cleansing that happens is ghastly! We change completely after coming to Reiki and no matter how painful the transition is, we know we cannot go back to being our old self. Reiki eases the process for you, simply because it makes you strong and indifferent to petty things and situations.

If you identify yourself going through this phase this is what you can do.

1. Pray and meditate as often as you can. This will increase your psychic abilities and give you the gift of patience. Trust me, you require patience during this time.
2. Ask your angels for help. In fact cling onto them at this time and keep your focus on your goals.
3. Send Reiki to your Dark Night of the Soul phase, to end at the earliest. It will remove some of the spiritual blocks.
4. Help humanity in some way. You can use Reiki for this.
5. Lastly, perseverence. Stick to whatever you wish to achieve. Look at it as that prize that you will get when you get out of this phase. The universe will anyway grant you all your wishes, simply because you went through this phase.
