Life is a simple miracle. It is, indeed. Somebody may say: “Hey, far not for everyone.” Nevertheless, I truly believe in it, and I think many people just refuse to see or accept it.
It was supposed to be another wonderful-ordinary day in my life, packed with daily routine-miracle, with every minute carefully planned to manage a lot or more than you can. I had been expecting my regular Reiki client for a regular Reiki session. It was a young lady of just 18, nice, smart, and very kind. Let us call her Anna for the story concerning her privacy.
She had regular problems with her stomach as stress made her pay with constant pain in that area. I feel people very well and can easily read them like an X-ray. But that time, I felt something was different once she opened the door. Anna was trying her best to behave as usual; you could physically see that effort on her face. I knew the difference.
Still, I did not want to stress her more and talked to her as I usually did. I asked her about life, studies and other stuff that could keep her busy. She was answering with pressure applied to every word that came out of her mouth. I offered her a glass of charged water before the session and kindly asked her about the intention for today’s meeting. I wanted Anna to start that difficult conversation first. I was giving her space. People who find themselves in the corner are not that willing to speak their minds.
Everything was ready, and we could begin when she finally got as much air as she could into her lungs and started pushing out the words from somewhere deep. “Oksana, if I may have a word with you?”
She was afraid to lift her eyes to me, breathing heavily and irregularly. “Sure, my girl, you know you can always share anything with me. I will support you and be on your side”.
I was waiting, as I didn’t want to push her. I could see that something she wanted to tell me was hurting a lot. I physically felt her pain inside, and not a physical but an emotional one.
I am always very careful in such situations as I know very well: the less you are involved, the more you can help. That is why it is easier to work with people you don’t know rather than with the ones you love. At the time I learnt Reiki, our tutors used to repeat very often: don’t get involved, stay calm and neutral. They even recommended that we not treat close people but refer them to other Reiki masters.
But what is done can’t be undone, and here was that girl in front of me looking for my attention and understanding. She finally lifted her eyes to me and put her head down again.
“May I ask you one very private question? Please, it is very important for me and I don’t have anybody else to share or ask.”
“You may tell me anything, and I will see what we can do with it.”
“I have a question about Reiki.” She looked confused, and there was doubt easily seen on her face. I encouraged her to continue. “You know”, she started, “I am doing my first year at university.” I silently nodded my head, helping her to go on. “And you also remember I am doing a budget course which my parents don’t have to pay for.” I showed yes with my eyes. “And you understand how important it is for me to study well. l may easily lose this chance once l do badly in my exams.”
I knew everything and readily confirmed all that. “And where is the question about Reiki?” I believe I was in a hurry to ask. Anna finally looked at me directly and simply told me: “My dear Oksana I fell in love for the first time in my life, like a crazy one!”
I still didn’t understand the link between university, her first love ever and Reiki, though I was sincerely happy for this lovely girl. Anna looked at me desperately and almost shouted: ’’He broke up with me !” And she started crying bitterly. I pulled her closer to me, hugged and let her cry for a while.
We all know tears bring relief and reduce the stress level. When she stopped sobbing, I looked into her face and asked what I could do for her as her Reiki master. “Does Reiki work with such situations?” I smiled softly, touched her lovely face, all wet from recent tears and asked what her plan was. Anna told me she was crying non-stop and she couldn’t concentrate on her lectures. The time of the exam session was coming, and she was terribly afraid to fail the exams and then, as a result, to lose her free place at university. Parents would have to pay for her studies, which was a real burden for the family.
Anna asked a physiologist to help, but nothing worked. She tried close friends, but they didn’t support her. The young lady couldn’t even think to share it with her parents, they would definitely consider it a silly and weak excuse for the lost chance. So, she came to me with that and asked whether Reiki can help in such situations.
I asked her how she imagined the possible scenario, and she already had a plan. What she told me soon after made me smile from ear to ear. People never came to me with such intentions for a Reiki session.
Anna took another deep breath and finally told me her idea. This young, lovely, but completely inexperienced in such questions, girl asked me to provide Reiki sessions to make her stop crying and thinking about that boy for a month. It would give her time to concentrate on her studies, to get ready for exams well, to do the university session and stay in her budget group.
She also told me she was sure she could not forget that young man who made her cry so much, and she was ready to grieve again once her exam session was over. Anna was looking at me with so much hope that I was afraid she would kneel in front of me to hear my yes. You know, I was rather speechless at that very moment. I looked at her with my eyes widely opened and told her Reiki is always about usual miracles. We will trust it once more and again.
The Reiki session began, and I felt the girl was tense first. But once the energy started running, the warmth filled up all her body, she relaxed and seemed even to fall asleep with a happy smile on her face.
It was pure magic. You don’t have to understand how it works, just let it go and accept. We both forgot about the time and were just enjoying the waves. The room was full of light and tranquility. Neither she nor I wanted that to finish.
After I closed the session, Anna was drinking water and I was hugging her. There was no need to talk. She seemed to be so peaceful. From her words, all Reiki sessions had always been wonderful, but that one was a real blessing.
She left for home and I had time to think over all the situation and to ask myself questions which appeared while I had been working on the girl. I wanted answers, too, not only Anna. It was a very fruitful conversation within myself and my Reiki guardians. How much you need to trust and believe it is going to work in the best way for anyone who is involved.
In the evening of the same day, I texted Anna to know how she felt. She was so happy to hear from me and answered immediately. She told me she had been working hard on her exams and didn’t want to cry at all. Anna was trying to put her feelings into words, which was difficult for her. She kept repeating it was pure magic and I was a real magician. The girl told me a funny thing, trying to comment on her state: ”Can you imagine, Oksana, I have forgotten to cry today!” Her voice sounded calm and tranquil. She was laughing happily and you could hear silver bells in the air.
The university session took a month. Our lady came to me a few more times for Reiki sessions and I could witness those amazing transformations myself. It was a different girl: shining, smiling, confident. And I would say: truly happy.
A month passed, and the session was over. Anna did it with flying colours and was able to keep her place in the group. But I wanted to somehow draw the line in the story and asked her what the plan was for the future. She told me she had never felt so calm and peaceful like during last month and asked me if we could preserve the result of the Reiki sessions the way it was. Anna said she didn’t want to cry over that gentleman anymore, and living life without worries appeared to be much better.
We met many times after that story again, and she came for Reiki sessions with calm confidence and complete trust. It made us much closer. Anna took a sincere interest in Reiki and asked me a million questions about it.
In a while, the young lady started thinking seriously about studying Reiki and even asked me for a few sessions to explain things she didn’t use to know or believe before. I was patient and tried to explain everything in simple words. Once she told me: ”It is rather hard to believe in something you can’t see or touch. We, people, are very materialistic.” I was ready for such a situation and answered immediately with my favourite words of Albert Einstein: ”Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want, and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”
In the end, Anna asked me to guide her into the world of Reiki. It was another interesting story full of amazing discoveries and simple miracles that happened every day around us. We just need to learn to notice them. When she heard about Reiki principles for the first time, Anna was amazed at their depth and still simplicity.” Just for today, don’t you worry. Wasn’t it about me, dear Teacher?” Warmth fell up my heart as one more person was ready to make this world better.
Anna completed the first level of Reiki studies. And I am more than sure she won’t stop there, but will immerse herself in an amazing world of energy transformations further on.
