The Holiday Season is upon us. Advertisements beg us to buy this shiny new item, or this sparkly piece of something. Red bows and green boughs abound to spread the joy, but underneath is the stress of trying to “feel” the holidays. Gifts can cost too much and still may not convey how we feel about our loved ones. I so often refer to Reiki as a gift and this season it is easy to spread that gift to others.
As much as I can, I am trying to set aside the need to partake in the overwhelming consumerism that consumes so much of our time during the seasonal festivities. My son challenged me to find ways to use Reiki. I have spent the past few days trying to come up with a list that’s practical and magical.
The most obvious gift is to offer a session of Reiki to a loved one. Make a homemade voucher for that person with your personal note of what Reiki means to you and why you are giving it to them. Giving Reiki as a gift shows your truest intention for another person’s wellbeing.
Any gift that you purchase for someone can also be infused with Reiki. What was your intention behind the gift? To show love, gratitude, thanks or friendship? Use that as the basis for creating a personalized intention and send Reiki to the item before you wrap it.
Wrap your gifts in Reiki. Make the Cho Ku Rei symbol and ask that it become a part of the wrapping process.
Here, at our house, we long ago did away with paper and tape. I make crochet gift bags that are reused each year. I crocheted them while infusing Reiki into each stitch.
Send out Holiday cards with Reiki inspired messages of hope, peace and love. Hope, Peace, and Love-aren’t these things we so often use Reiki to try and achieve? Send out that intention to those on your mailing list.
Cooking or baking for family and friends? Remember that you can use Reiki to send your intention for a peace filled holiday to your food and drinks.
There are so many holidays at this time of the year. We have traditions, rituals, celebrations, and expressions that can be enriched with Reiki energy. Try and spread the holiday cheer with some Reiki.
