Reiki creates a solid foundation for your healing practice. Starting your path with Reiki allows you to add on, if you wish, other modalities, but from the perspective of Reiki. Seeing the world through the lens of energy, creates a cohesive way to understand the connections and patterns that we are surrounded by. Reiki, as a Universal system of healing, light, and love, is a welcoming, open, accepting energy healing system that also allows for individuality.
What does Reiki as a foundation mean?
It means that we start with Reiki and build up from there, each new modality or practice that we add, is held up by our understanding and practice of Reiki. With Reiki as the foundation, we can grow, create, and transform because of how Reiki teaches us to see the world.
One of the first steps in becoming a Reiki practitioner is in learning how to sense the energy that is being channeled through you. We can further take this and begin to feel the energy of other people, plants, animals, and situations.
The sensing of energy creates a more holistic system.
If you incorporate other healing modalities into your Reiki practice then this sensing of energy can allow you to feel for imbalances, holes, cold spots and more. You can fine tune the specifications to enhance your energy practice. For example, if you are doing an aura cleansing and notice a cold spot, your Reiki training can elevate your ability to assess and treat this cold spot. A bigger picture can be formed to not just sense this disturbance in the aura, but also to send Reiki at the same time, creating a multi-layered impact.
If you have considered learning reflexology that would be a great way to further blend both traditions. Reflexology treats the whole body using the pathway of meridians, or energy lines (a very basic definition for the purposes of making a concise article). What if, while using your reflexology knowledge you could also then send Reiki? Two energy systems that, while not the same, can benefit each other. Your understanding of meridians can only be enhanced by your previous knowledge of Universal Energy.
In channeling Reiki, we also project Reiki. We visualize where it might be needed in a person’s etheric system. We can ask plants and animals if we can send Reiki to them. If you have always wanted to learn more about herbalism then allow your Reiki training to enliven the energies of the plants. Sense their individual energies and discover how you can enrich them with the healing benefits of Reiki. Your understanding of a person’s energetic body will enable your herbal practice to be more attuned to an individual’s needs.
With healing modalities, such as aromatherapy or crystal therapy, we can infuse those individual items with Reiki as well, prior to a session. By instilling our homes and work with Reiki, we amplify each area of our life with love and light, creating a symbiotic and powerful relationship between that which we use; and the energy that we call upon.
Reiki is not just a healing practice, but it is also a source of protection. We can ask Reiki to create a shield of protection around us or our loved ones. We can send Reiki to natural disasters, areas being torn apart by war, or when we sense the suffering of others.
If you are familiar with Astral Projection then prior to your travels, you can send Reiki to meet you, or bring it with you on your journey. Working with Akashic Records? Allow Reiki to protect you as you seek knowledge on that plane.
If you practice a craft, or a skill where you create for other people, then those items, for example, a necklace, can be imbued with Reiki. A charm bag, made for a person, can be enhanced by sending Reiki to the items that will be kept inside this protective pouch. What is already being created for the purposes of protecting one, from negative energies, is given an extra boost of positive intention when layered with Reiki.
Reiki’s beauty is its very nature of opening us up to the wider world. Through Reiki we see the interrelatedness of every part of this Earth. Reiki doesn’t demand that we become closed off, or disconnected. Reiki doesn’t tell us that we shouldn’t be in this place and time. Reiki opens us up to the infinite possibility of our being here and now. Reiki asks us to see outside of our humanness and connect to ourselves, our communities, to each other, and to the world as a whole.
Reiki’s beauty is in its simplicity and accessibility. We learn it, we share it. Our hearts become bigger, our minds awaken, and our arms stretch out to sense the energy that swirls around us. As conduits for Reiki, we know there is peace, love, and healing. Reiki’s strength and endurance is a testament to its effectiveness and its benevolence.
We don’t all practice the same form of Reiki. There are differences, nuances, slight variations. The energy speaks to us and we respond to its call. In all of us there is a need to make this world better, to bring healing, to bring light. Reiki allows you to feel the change. Reiki allows us to make that change be positive. We channel the healing. We channel love.
Reiki is a solid foundation for your healing practice. When you feel the energy, when you sense the energy, then you see the web that creates this world.
