Saturn Retrograde

Saturn is the farthest planet that can be seen with the naked eye from Earth. It is known for its rings and they are symbolic for the laws of Karma.

Opportunity is one of the most eloquent words that can be applied to Saturn as this planet offers those trials and life situations that bequeath conscious freedom of choice. It is through our restrictions and the despondency which often accompanies impeded desires or aspirations that we come to a greater awareness of the Laws of Manifestation.

Saturn is the planet of justice; he stands at the Gates of Initiation ready to put all who approach to the test (much as the symbol of St. Peter acting as the Guardian at the Gates of Heaven in terms of the Christian worldview) and when it goes in retrograde, people feel it is a malefic planet bringing misfortune and bad luck to everyone. Saturn goes into retrograde every year for four and a half months and during this period we feel burdened by our responsibilities. At this point, some may look for alternative life purpose.

It is observed there is a sense of disconnection and drop in the motivation levels, hence one may feel sluggish and hopeless. One shouldn’t worry so much as approximately one-third of people have Saturn retrograde in their natal charts. This retrograde is all about change in point of view. Once you can look at the greater scheme of things, this period becomes a time of evaluation and reappraise.

It is a good time to slow down, take a break, reconnect with things which were left half done and tie up the loose ends; though it is not a good idea to start something new or add on to more responsibilities as one may feel overwhelmed and also stressed. It is a period of delay, but we can use this time to refine our work and simplify things for ourselves. Saturn is a planet that oversees traditions, structures, foundations, responsibility, allegiance, tenacity, things that last, pattern, essence, limits, and obligation. The retrograde helps us push our limits and work at a greater capacity.

How to deal with the retrograde?

1. Try donating shoes to the poor, old or the needy.
2. Time to take it easy and reflect on the lessons one has learned in life.
3. Send Reiki or other healing energies to Saturn.
4. Do not use a shortcut to do things, they will backfire, better to take a longer route and attempt to get it right at the first go.
5. Send Reiki or other healing energies to your past, present, and future as Saturn also deals with Karma.
6. Let things be, sometimes all we can do is wait for the divine timing to intervene.

Try to look at the positive side of things as this time helps us work in a matter of fact way instead of theoretical considerations and hence there is a higher level of success. Also, if you feel overwhelmed, one may meditate and acknowledge that this too shall pass away.
