Hello everyone, I am back after a pretty long time and this time I am starting a series wherein we get different points of view on different Reiki topics. You can join in by mentioning your point of view in the comment section.
Today’s discussion is WHAT SHOULD BE THE IDEAL GAP BETWEEN EACH LEVEL OF USUI REIKI? I asked this question and got few interesting replies which I will be presenting in this article.
Personally, I feel that the minimum gap is 21 days as lots of cleansing and changes occur during this phase. From my experience, I have noticed that each level comes to you at the right time. It is said that Reiki chooses you, the same way I feel each level comes to you when you are totally ready. You will get that intense urge of learning the new level, the right teacher appears and you will just know that NOW is the time to proceed further. Circumstances become more favorable, from nowhere you will find you have enough money to do the course, blockages seem to be dissolved.

Level I – After 8 years of age
Level II – 48 to 75 days from the date of Level I
Level IIIA – 6 months to 1 year from the date of Level II
Level IIIB – 1 to 3 years from the date of Level IIIA + healing cases of up to 35-50 people within family and friends network.

After Level I and II 21 days for Level III. Afterwards, it varies from student to student. As master can decide after scanning if the student is ready for next level. If the student expresses its will to learn next level master should definitely think about it as it’s a soul craving for it.

Level I→II should be minimum 21 days
Level II→III I personally prefer 40 days
Level IIIA→IIIB at least 6 months to 1 year

I feel that the time period should not be a criteria for deciding the gap between levels. According to me, the number of hours of Reiki practiced on self or on others would be a better scale for judging the eligibility for the next level.

In USUI Reiki, there must be gap of at last one month till at least second degree and for master’s degree there should be a gap of at least 4 to 5 months as there will be assignments and such.

Though I didn’t wait much but should at least 4 to 5 months and should practice thoroughly.
Sunetra Dasgupta
Between Reiki level I and II there should be at least 3 months gap, because level I forms the base. It will not only clear your chakras but also remove a lot of physical blockages from life as we keep practicing we understand the energies better. Reiki level I is highly underestimated. Changes start occurring in one’s life from the day we practice. Level II is emotional and mental cleaning. Hence, before that we should be able to grasp the energies better and level II is 40x more powerful hence it will help us enhance our healing. Between level II and masters there should be 6 months gap, as level II is vast and a lot of hidden mental and emotional blockages are released from our mind, body, soul and also we go through a lot of karmic cleansing. The 6 months practice will help us in preparation of the masters’ level where not only we are responsible for leading others to their path but also we go through soul cleansing.

21 days to 3 months as per your energy level but minimum should be 21 days( for level II). For level III, from 1 to 3 years and again as per the energy levels.

I and II can be given immediately and between II to III level max 6 months to 1 year depending on energy level and capacity to handle energy level.

Between I and II level even if it’s a one month break it is fine but between II and III level if the healer is really not fully tuned to Reiki and has not done some Reiki serious cases I feel that person should not be taught IIIA. After IIIA one must be fully trained with some serious cases solved.
Suchitra
Personally, I feel a minimum of 6 months I and II level and at least 3 years of regular practice before the Level III.
Radhika Mehta
After level I, a minimum 3 months though I prefer 6 months. After level II, a year at least. After master level practice for 3 years then take teacher level.

Minimum 21 days but I feel it’s good to wait at least 6 months. 21 days is the cleansing period. These days people hop onto the next level immediately after 21 days but I feel at least 6 months be with the Reiki energy.
Bhumika Sood
I would say one should go for the next level when thoroughly adapt to one level. When well versed with one, go for second and so on. Since everyone has a different level of learning and adaptation, we can’t have one size fits all.

As per my dowse, the gap between level 1-2, only one to seven days. Between level 2 to 3a, minimum 3 and half months. Between level 3a to 3b, 6 months to 1 year with full practice of distance heal and psychic surgery.
Disclaimer: I have pasted word by word I received from other healers, nothing is rectified or changed.
So as you can see, the most common opinion amongst all we see here is 21 days minimum gap. This article is more of a discussion on a topic given rather than giving healing techniques. Please join in and put your perspective in comment sections. Also, let us all respect each other’s point of views and perspectives so please refrain from pointing fingers at anyone.
Thank You!

I just recently became a certified Usui Reiki Level 1 practitioner, and based on my own journey, it’s best to give yourself a minimum of 3 months until you feel ready to take Level 2. This is only because after your Level 1 attunement, it’s expected for the Life Force energy to clear out the physical/energy blockages that had been stored in your body. Plus, you will need to take as much time as you need to gain a deeper understanding and just practice giving Reiki to yourself, to your plants (if you have any), to your everyday items, etc.
