During my first Reiki Level I certification class ~ the introductory class so to speak ~ my Reiki Master, Vicky Walsh, taught me how to access the ‘Violet Breath’. Vicky not only obtained her Reiki certifications with John Gray, one of the first 22 Reiki Masters in the United States, who was Attuned by Hawaya Takata, she also studied with world renowned Medical Intuitive, Caroline Myss, PhD. Her knowledge of esotericism and metaphysics is great, and she is a wonderful teacher, as well as a good friend.
The Violet Breath is based on the Violet Flame, I assume, of St. Germaine. She never actually told me this, but it is something that over the many years I’ve been practicing Reiki, I’ve come to assume this to be true.
Following is an explanation of how to access this special and supremely healing Violet Breath during a Reiki session, as well as during an Attunement. After I have accessed the Violet Breath, if I am in the process of Attuning a student, I breathe the Violet Breath into the Crown of my student prior to directing any of the Reiki symbols into him or her. When I am using the Violet Breath during a Reiki treatment, I breathe it silently and completely all around my client, and envision him or her floating within the Violet Breath. Let’s get on with it, then:

Step 1: Close your eyes and take 3 deep, cleansing breaths breathing in through your nose and allowing the air to inflate your lungs to full capacity. Count in your head for 3 seconds and allow the air to hiss out through your lips. After those 3 cleansing breaths, you are ready to access the Violet Breath.
Step 2: Touch the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth lightly. Now, with eyes closed, as you breathe in deeply through your nostrils this time with your tongue lightly resting against your pallet, imagine the vibrant Red Energy of Mother Earth rising up through your feet, up your legs and into your root chakra. At the same time, imagine the cosmic Blue Energy of the Universe streaming downward through your Crown Chakra and meeting with the Red Energy of Mother Earth. Imagine the Energies intertwining, marrying, and naturally becoming an iridescent and brilliant violet colour as they mix. You have accessed the Violet Breath.
Step 3: Use this Violet Breath to assist you in any of your Reiki Sessions, Attunements, or even in your own healing and meditation work. Surround yourself with the Violet Breath before facing the world each morning, especially when you know you’re going to be facing a difficult situation.

Hi Kathi I am a Usui Reiki Master out of Texas, my Grandmaster came through the Reiki Institute in Japan, and I just taught my first level I class yesterday, and performed my first ever attunements. I regularly see the violet, blue and white in my self healing practice… but not until prepping for this 1st class did I begin to explore the deeper understanding of the violet breath. I too study hypnotherapy, NLP, am told I have medical intuitiveness but am still gaining confidence and building my capabilities to channel the energy… I am working to open up to more clear sight, as my clairsentient grew so powerful in the Last few years, it feels as though it knocked out some of my sight, Claircognizance is developing nicely… but sight feels blocked…. long story longer, I only got very faint violet coming in as I was attuning, beaming into the brow and heart. Not seeing it clearly is a bit bothersome… but I am clear each student released some things and had experiences to report. 2 of them said through their closed lids as I was in front of them, they saw white light and blue around me before them ? My utmost desire is to give my students pure Reiki as divine will and Usui intended… do you think it is necessary to see the breath and ray strongly for the energy via intention to be strong? Also I will tell you, not taught by my master I have discovered close connections with 3 rays; magenta, blue and gold. Thank you! Love and Light to you! ?
Brilliant! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences of late. I’m sorry it’s been such a long time since I’ve had the time to visit this lovely site, Reiki Rays and respond to your wonderful post. But I had a moment today to do so and I’m happy I did. I’m sure by now you’re well into your profession and healing energies! I’m of the paradigm that Reiki is all about INTENTION and that seeing or using the Violet Breath or any other complementary ‘tool’ with Reiki is a personal choice. None of it is necessary nor are there any hard, fast rules. Reiki Energy is abundant in the Universe and it’s meant to be shared FREELY to change our own perceptions and heal our Collective Consciousness. We are, after all, all healers and we have chosen to be here on Gaia at this moment in Time because we are all equally needed to help raise our own vibrations and the vibrations of the Collective, the Whole. I am a Reiki Master with teaching more in depth for my level I and II .. my Master I have self taught besides the attunment. Throughout my practice I have been drawn to the Violet Flame and call upon St. Germaine during every session, I have even used the blowing method a few times but this is the first time I have heard of the Violet Breath. I was reading through the Healing Touch Reiki guide book and saw it mentioned. I was led here for a better discription.
Wow! I have been doing this, guided to do this! Now I question an attunment or do I continue with the connection that I already seem to have?

namaste my friend ~ you are right where you’re supposed to be. That’s the message I am receiving for you. There is no questioning required where Reiki and Attunements are concerned any longer. As Mother Earth moves more deeply into the photon light belt and raises her vibrations along with Humanity’s vibrations everything is being revealed slowly but surely.
