Reiki & the Plant Spirit World

One of the great gifts of Reiki is that it can be used anywhere, anytime, for any purpose. Energy does not discriminate! It transcends space, time and limitations created by the mind. This gives us the capacity to be curious, to develop extrasensory perception, to explore the energies around us and how they move through us.

My own curiosity guided me to explore Reiki in nature, attuning to the energetic frequencies of plants and communing with their spirits. Inviting Reiki into my relationship with the earth has allowed me to experientially understand the interconnection among all beings. It has given me the gift of becoming increasingly aware of the subtle energies in my environment and of developing a more inclusive consciousness.

This time of year offers us a chance to reconnect with the earth. Watching life blossom brings a renewed sense of awe and love for Mother Nature. What better way to dive into this flow, this pure creative energy, than with Reiki?

Why Work With Plants?

Using Reiki in nature opens up a channel for communication with our earthly brothers and sisters. As we use Reiki to engage with plants, we become more compassionate. We realize that plants are sentient beings made of the same energy as we are. Like humans and animals, plants have auras! They radiate energy and are effected by their energetic surroundings.

Engaging with plants can also be tremendously healing. Their pure life force energy is rejuvenating and can help us illumine the divine light within our own hearts. Developing an open relationship with the plant world creates a space where guides can voice themselves and teachings may be received.

Where Do I Begin?

Mindfulness Walks:

Take a long walk outdoors, preferably somewhere relatively quiet and undisturbed. Notice the connection between your feet and the earth. Open all of your senses to your surroundings. Allow yourself to be guided to a plant – a flower, a tree, a blade of grass. Sit down before it and draw the power symbol in your palms to invoke Reiki energy. Cup your hands lightly around a stem or a leaf. Feel what you feel, notice what you notice. Spend as much time with your plant as you like. With regular practice, you will begin to learn about the spirits of different plants, their personalities, their gifts, their unique wisdom.

Develop a relationship with your houseplants:

Do you have plants at home? Spend a few moments each day invoking the power symbol and sending love and light to them. Be receptive. Notice how their energies change from day to day. Can you intuit when they are thirsty? When they are in need of more sun? When they are perfectly happy? How is this reflected in their energetic field?

As with all practices, allow your intuition to be your most trusted guide. Be curious, have fun exploring, and may your relationship with the plant spirit world blossom!
