Article by Reiki Master Sunetra Dasgupta
Oils have always been a part of the Indian households for a long time. The wrestlers who are also known as “Pehelwans” in India get their body massaged with Sesame Oil, when babies are born they are massaged with mustard oil, when prayers are offered to deity “diya” is lit which has coconut or sesame or clarified butter, people from a very young age have almond, castor, coconut oil massaged such that they have long, beautiful and thick hair. A trip to the Nilgiris with my teacher made me discover a few essential oils which made me go back to the roots ☺
Essential oils have been used in the hospitals by aroma therapists for a while. They have a great effect on our mind and psyche. I bought a handful of them and combined with Reiki, the results were fast and instantaneous, thus I thought to share a few with all of you.
Eucalyptus Oil (Oil for cold, cough and head ache)
It is great oil when one deals with viruses of the respiratory system. It is used externally for common cold, head ache, coughs etc. A good antiseptic and deodorant when mixed with hot water and inhaled or taken bath with. It relieves decongestion once 2-3 tsp of oil along with a spoon of sugar is consumed. Also a good oil to be used in massages, sauna and as an chronic spray.
Lemon Grass Oil (Tea oil for Gastric)
This lemon flavor oil is traditional Indian medicine; the oil has a long history of use against infection and fever. A small drop of this oil if consumed with hot tea will get rid of gastritis and high fever. It is also used as a mosquito repellant when mixed with floor wash liquid. Tired after a long day? This oil can be used for up lifting and refresh your tired feet or a good rinse for your greasy hair.
Wintergreen Oil (Gaultheria Oil for Joint Pain)
An excellent oil, used externally for joint pains, arthritis, strains rheumatic and muscular pain, it can be applied directly or mixed with coconut oil for those who have sensitive skin.

Almond Oil (Skin Care Oil)
This is excellent oil for massage. It can be used for skin problems like pimples, sunburns, black-head etc. It leaves the skin soft and smooth, also very good hair oil. This oil contains essential vitamins which gently lubricates and softens the skin and gives it elasticity to prevent wrinkling.
Olive Oil (Massage Oil)
Rubbing this oil on body prevents from dryness and skin diseases. On face it clears pimples and makes the skin delicate and lovely. It is safe for babies of all ages for massage, also used as bath oil for babies.
Germanium Oil (Nilgiri Attar)
Attar is the Indian version of perfumes. Germanium oil is a natural perfume., 2 to 3 drops can be consumed with warm water as mouthwash for bleeding gums, dysentery and for gastric ulcers which causes us to vomit. The oil has been used for centuries for skin care, as its strength lies in the ability to regenerate tissues and nerves. It also assists in hormonal problems. sunu u amaze me with the abundance of knowledge :). continue to bless us with more n more info.
Why are we reading about essential oils here? looks like you are selling and advertising essential oils here. How does it connect with reiki?
Why dont you write about lip balms and eye liners too? Where is information about reiki?
Dear Fida,
I wrote about essential oils as I combined them with Reiki and found useful. I am not a trader of oils. I would have written about lip balms and eye liner if I had benefited from them.
From my essential oil training and well known teacher, ingesting EOs is not a good practice.
I do not see any method to combine here. Hope you add that in part 2.
I charge the oil with reiki so v get the utmost benefit
Very useful information and method.
Oh wow! This is strange it is happening so often. The other day I was wondering how aroma oils if infused with Reiki would help.
And here you are.. Giving us a a complete database of information on what oils to use and when. Am sure charged with Reiki and with specific intent a lot can be done with aroma oils. Either way its fresh for me.. The information. Thank you Sunetra… Lovely article 🙂
Vedant thank you for providing better information. Atleast you said that we need special intent too.
Of course we do.. With Reiki we always do.. Sometimes it goes without saying.. I mean even when doing a full body healing we intend right!
Assuming everyone is as knowledgeable as you?
I am extremely sorry if it hurt you so much.. Am still not sure where is the problem. Or the need to justify so very much.
Thank you for the compliment but I guess its unfair to call others not as knowledgeable. I belief we all are channels chosen by Reiki. To call someone better or not as good ain’t a very good idea. I may be wrong.. But after practicing whatever I have I am seriously not up for this. I don’t even know why am answering you. Good night Fida.. Please do your daily practice. And re-read your comments tomorrow morning. God bless you.
Lol Vedant! Too good! Can’t stop laughing!
In Reiki the basic is combine Reiki with anything if u have the intention things will work.
i am a Reiki practitioner and i use essential oils in my practice. there are healing oils and oils for smell and meditation. as a healer you should welcome all things true and natural
Thank you Sunetra for sharing this much needed information…after having read the Part-1, i am quite excited for the Part-2 coming up 🙂
