Have you ever encountered a sudden situation that created a very unexpected problem or series of problems? Most of us have. They really throw a curveball into your day! Of course the first response when this happens is to panic a little and maybe to get a little angry (why is this happening?!) or fearful (what will happen now??). But, if you stay calm, you can release the worry, fear and anger, and remember that you can use Reiki to help with anything. You will feel better and I can assure you that Reiki will help in ways you wouldn’t expect.
Today was an opportunity for me to put this into practice. I had a distant client early in the morning soon after my husband left for the day. After I finished getting ready, I had a little extra time, so I began to sort some papers in my home office. Suddenly I heard water dripping by my printer. At first I couldn’t make sense of the sound. Then I realized with a panic that there was water leaking from the ceiling directly above my desk! Right onto my printer and next to my computer. The computer I do all my writing and business on! And I now had less than an hour before I was supposed to call my client for our consult.
I had already been doing Reiki prior to this and was in a deep state of gratitude. I think this made it easier for me to shift my state very quickly to one of resilience and options. I quickly assessed the possible dangers to safety and property and then assessed the possible options. I quickly worked to move the electronics out of harm’s way, then the important papers. While I was doing that, I called maintenance to repair the issue.
I moved all my office furniture into the center of the room and put a pot down to catch the dripping water. Then I sat down and sent Reiki to all the walls, the ceiling and the floor. I put symbols in the center of the room and envisioned them expanding out to fill the entire space, every corner. I asked that Reiki assist in finding a way for the issue not to interfere with my client session, if possible. (I asked for that, even though I had no idea how it could be possible for it not to interfere, since the session was only about 40 minutes away at that point.)
I stayed calm during the whole process and remained in that state of gratitude. I was grateful I was led to work in that area so that I found it in time for nothing in my office to be damaged. After I sent Reiki, I let go of the process and continued to clean up water wherever I found more. And to wait for maintenance to come. There was nothing more I could do, but breathe and prepare for my client. Somehow I had faith that it would all work out.
The maintenance man came as I had 10 minutes left before my client consult. The problem was coming from outside my unit and had been repaired already! He was done. The problem was not going to interfere with my client and it had taken only about 45 minutes to correct, which is pretty amazing for a leak. Nothing was damaged and I remained completely calm throughout the entire thing.
It all made me think of the ways I have handled things before I began practicing Reiki. Something like this would have sent me into a complete panic, complaining and worrying about what could happen or could have happened, blaming people for it happening. None of that would have stopped the leak, but it would have made it much more difficult to deal with. Which would have only made me feel that I was that much more justified in panicking, complaining, worrying and blaming. I would have seen very few, if any options.
Today, with Reiki and gratitude, I saw an abundance of options. I even knew there were lessons in it and humor. How we see things opens or closes our world. Reiki enables us to open our world and that allows us to have more resilience and to see more options. Life will always have curveballs to throw our way. But there is no reason we have to be miserable while we try to deal with them.
