Every day, it seems that our world is becoming darker and darker. From social media to the news, the stories tell of a world that is divided. We live in a world where we can see tragic events unfold in real time, and everyone is expressing their opinions and providing ultimatums if you do not align with their political view.
Even though you may try to put on a brave face every day, you may find yourself getting caught up in reading depressive and worrying content on your phone, doomscrolling. This action may cause you to feel anxious and emotionally drained. You may even catch yourself doomscrolling and decide to make a conscious decision to limit your screen time. This can be a challenge when you have access to the whole world in the palm of your hand. You want to help the world, yet you may feel so helpless.
How can we, as Reiki practitioners and Master Teachers, help ourselves while being of service to others? What can we do for ourselves and the collective? How can we send Reiki, blessings, prayers, or all the above to the collective all at once?
One of the meditations that I learned many years ago involves the visualization of a Reiki Tree. The idea is to visualize a tree with leaves, and all the leaves are filled with names. The practitioner, having their distance symbol, would send Reiki to the entire tree filled with names.
Over the years in my own practice, I changed it so that everyone can use this visualization technique. I call it The Blessing Tree. Anyone can do this, from the Reiki Practitioner to children, and you too; you can offer this to your client as a resource that they can use at home or share with family and friends. Even coloring or painting your very own Blessing Tree.
The Blessing Tree allows you the opportunity to place your name, a client’s name, Animals, our planet, dreams, goals, intentions, and family members on a leaf of the tree. It’s really up to you what you want to add. For every leaf, you can place as many leaves on the tree as you desire. Every night, if you have your distance symbol, you can send Reiki. If you are not attuned to Reiki, you can send a prayer or blessing to that tree. This is your very own tree. Everything on that Tree will receive the Reiki, blessing, and prayer. The wording on the tree will never be erased. You can have one tree or multiple trees: you can create a whole forest. You can imagine a tree or physically draw, paint, or design a tree to have in your home or business. Every night, you send Reiki, a blessing, or a prayer to your Blessing Tree.
Here is a step-by-step that I do with clients
The Blessing Tree.
- Find a comfortable spot to sit or lie down and close your eyes.
- Begin to breathe with intention.
- Give your body permission to relax. After a few minutes with your eyes closed, begin to imagine there is a seed in the palms of your hands. This seed is for a tree. You can imagine a Samara if you would like your tree to be a maple or an acorn for an oak.
- If you are a Reiki practitioner or Master Teacher, while you hold the seed, you can bring in your symbols. If you are not attuned to Reiki, say a blessing, mantra, or prayer over the seed.
- As you imagine the seed in your hand, begin to imagine where you would like to plant the seed. It can be anywhere in the world or out of this world. Take a moment with your breath and visualize yourself walking to where you would like to plant your seed for your tree.
- Once you have found your spot, imagine you are placing the seed into the ground. As you step back, you begin to see a bright light coming down from the sky. In what seems like seconds, you begin to see your tree sprout and grow.
- You are the creator of your tree; you watch as it begins to grow and flourish. Use your imagination. You watch as your tree flourishes, the light begins to shine on it, and the tree begins to grow.
- As each leaf appears, visualize a person’s name, a place, a goal, a dream, a date, intentions, a prayer, and blessings. Fill each leaf with something or someone you would like to give Reiki, a blessing, or pray for.
- What is written on the leaf will never disappear. You can add as many leaves to your Blessing Tree. You can even give each person, business, goal, or dream its own tree. You can imagine a forest. You can imagine a tree in every state or every continent. You can have a tree for those who are in Heaven.
- Imagine yourself looking at your tree, as it is glowing and filled with abundance, peace, and happiness. Take a moment to add any final touches to your tree.
- Slowly, at a pace that is comfortable for you, gently bring awareness to your breath and slowly open your eyes. Take a moment and write about your experience.
- You can further this activity with a client, students, or working with children by giving each person a canvas to paint their own tree, or giving everyone a leaf template to begin to create their tree.
- As each person creates their tree, writing their person, goal, or dream. Always seek consent for the names on your tree. Reiki always honors free will.
- You can add as much as you want to your tree. You can also create a physical tree or use a tree in your own yard and imagine words written on your tree.

If you are a Reiki practitioner with the Distance symbol, this is a great way to send distance Reiki to everyone all at once. If you are not attuned, you can send blessings, intentions, and prayers to your Blessing Tree or Forrest daily. You can even ask the Reiki or ask that the prayer or blessing flow every night at a certain time to your tree. This is another interactive offering that can help you and others bring healing to the world.
